I know I’ve said this before lots of times but Miss Frugal has a very individual style when it comes to her clothes and she likes to wear clothes that are a little but different to what her friends are wearing. She doesn’t own a pair of jeans and her only concession to fashion are her Converse – three pairs at the last count.
I think it’s great that she’s found her own style and she doesn’t feel the need to wear the same things as everyone else but it does mean that buying clothes can be a bit of a nightmare. She seems to have some sort of two point checklist in her head whenever she looks at clothes:
- Does my Mam like it?
- Is there a chance any of my friends will have the same thing?
A yes to either of the above will probably mean that nothing on earth would make her wear whatever it is.
She tends to not like children’s clothes that are aimed at children her age and she’s tall enough now that she can wear an adults size 8/10 but finding clothes that are age appropriate that she actually likes is practically impossible on a budget!
That is, until I remembered favourite shop – eBay! We spent a lovely hour or so last week ‘shopping’ together on eBay and you’ll be amazed at the clothes she got considering I gave her a relatively small budget of £20.00 to buy her ‘new’ clothes with.
She bought (with my help obviously) a Top Shop shorts suit, a boo hoo dress and a River Island dress – all age appropriate and all lovely. She didn’t even spend her full budget and we used the rest at Tesco the next day buying a skirt and top:
I’m sure you can see from these pictures that she has a slight Converse obsession. So imagine her excitement this week the lovely people at Cloggs sent her a gorgeous pair of pink tie dyed Converse. I think she thought she’d died and gone to heaven! I’ve tried to get a bit of a review of out of her but all I can get is ‘Awesome’, ‘Gorgeous’ and ‘Perfect’!
From my point of view, they’re clearly comfortable as she’s never out of them and very practical as she always has on one of her pairs and they all look in great condition considering how often she wears them. They’re also easy to clean which is a big plus when she climbs trees in them!
So, I’m pleased with how she spend her clothes budget but not sure she’s ready to be in charge of buying all of her own clothes just yet!
