Gone are the days when I could choose either of my children’s clothes for them. I remember when I used to be able to lay their clothes out on a morning and they would put them on happily without a murmur.
These days Miss Frugal and I very rarely agree on clothes – mainly because of the grown up nature of a lot of the clothes in the shop aimed towards her age group. She sees her idols on TV and in magazines wearing grown up clothes so naturally when she sees them in a shop in her size she wants to wear them herself. That’s when I have to explain to her that some clothes are not suitable for an 11 year old even if they are selling them in her size.
Despite this, she does have a lot of clothes and she’s very individual in her style usually, she doesn’t really like to wear the same sorts of things as her friends and has very specific ideas about what she will and won’t wear.
At the minute she’s going through a bit of a Converse phase – we bought her a pair a little while ago and she wore them with everything from leggings, tu-tu style skirts, maxi dresses and even her school uniform one day when I was at work and she conned her Dad in to letting her wear them.
So when we JD Sports offered us the chance to review some Converse recently, clearly there was no way that I was going to be allowed to say no. Especially as she’s had her eye on some ‘awesome’ white ones for a while now. Not only did they let us review the white pair for Miss Frugal they also sent Master Frugal a pair of red ones which he absolutely loves!
