Sticker shock: it’s something we have all had while shopping and thought to ourselves ‘is this really worth it?’ Fashion items of high quality may feel like a big purchase sometimes, but there are some things that are more convenient to invest in because they will last you many many years. This way, you actually save money in the long run.
Here are a few fashion items worth investing in:
Little Black Dress
The Little Black Dress, referred to as the LBD, is a fashion essential for every woman. You should choose a versatile style, short that hits right above the knee, or any fit that makes you feel your best. Twinset, for example, has a number of short dresses that very cute, classic and very high quality. Opt for a timeless style that makes your investment last the test of time and through all the fashion trends. Most find themselves reaching for their LBD more than they think; when you invest in one that is of high quality and really fits you right, you’ll find yourself wanting to wear it even more!
Leather jacket
A leather (or faux leather) jacket pairs with just about anything. It can dress up your jeans and tee look and with your LBD give you an edgy look on your night out. A leather jacket that you invest in is a piece that you will have for at least a decade (given that you care for it properly!) A leather jacket that you don’t invest in can easily start fading or coming apart at the seams, especially if it is a staple piece in your wardrobe.

A quality pair of jeans that really fits you right and will last you years to come is an investment worth making. It will make you feel confident every time you put that pair of jeans on, and with the added benefit of a great cost-per-wear you’ll be happy you invested in a pair of jeans you love.
Dream purse
When you spend a significant amount of time dreaming of a certain purse and you know exactly how it would work in a number of ways with your current wardrobe, it is an investment worth making if you have the means. Be sure to maintain it properly and avoid any melted lipstick stains so that you can have it in your collection and even pass it down one day.
Blazer
A blazer is a great investment piece, whether you are working in an environment that requires business formal or even if you just love a good blazer. Find the ‘right one’: one that fits you right, is timeless, pairs with at least 5 different outfit looks in your wardrobe (with trousers, high-waisted trousers, jeans, dresses, skirts, etc). This means it will get a lot of wear and can look completely different depending on what you wear it with. The cost-per-wear on a piece that you can and want to wear with just about everything is a great investment!
Classic black pumps
Classic black pumps are timeless and for those days and nights you really need a pair of classic black heels, you’ll be happy to have a pair you know you love. For a work event, date night, formal evening, or to dress up your favourite look, a pair of black heels you can walk comfortably in and that look elegant is a must.
With this list of items that are worth investing in, there are also a few fashion items on which you should definitely save your money on, such as statement jewellery, sunglasses (especially when deciding if that investment pair with a frame shape you’re uncertain about is worth it), summer sandals you’ll wear at the beach, tops you’ll wear out at night (it’s very sad to get a drink spilt on your favourite top, especially when it was an investment piece).
