Every week I share five frugal things that I’ve done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.
Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money – it’s not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we’re all frugal for different reasons. 😉
How on earth is it March already? Honestly, so far this year has been one giant blur and I haven’t had the chance to do focus much on my list of things I want to achieve in 2019 – definitely something I want to change over the next couple of weeks.
1) Yeay for bargain flowers!
I picked up some bargain flowers last Saturday morning when I went shopping and they’ve been making me brightening up a dull corner in my kitchen all week!
I think they were £3 full price which is brilliant anyway but the £1.50 I paid for them makes them even more fabulous!
2) I found some packs of Gillette blades reduced from the usual £8 something to just £4.
We don’t need any right now but I didn’t want to miss out on such a saving so I bought a couple of packs and have stashed them in the cupboard under the sink in the bathroom.
3) I’ve been drinking so much more water this last couple of weeks which not only saves me money but also has the obvious health benefits that drinking more water brings.
I used to love plain old tap water but at some point, I seemed to start drinking more Pepsi Max than water without realising it which obviously isn’t great – from a health or wealth perspective.
This cute little water bottle is now a constant in my handbag and my water consumption is now back where it should be with Pepsi Max firmly relegated back into treat territory.
4) How lovely was the weather last weekend? I actually managed to line dry some of my washing which is a bit of a rare occurrence at this time of year. 😉
I’m not going to share a photo because no-one wants to see my underwear but to me, there’s nothing like line-dried washing – especially bed sheets.
5) Speaking of the weather last weekend, it definitely inspired me to have a bit of a mini spring clean.
We started Sunday off with a quick run to the tip with a car full of stuff that we cleared out from the garage and then filled the car for the second time and dropped off some books and board games off at the charity shop.
After that, I came home and decided to have a good old clean. I ran out of my homemade orange peel kitchen spray and the batch I made a couple of weeks ago won’t be ready for another two weeks.
I love using this but seeing as I’m all out, I made a quick batch of my homemade cleaning spray using some lemon and peppermint essential oils which doesn’t sound like it would be particularly nice but it really is. They complement each other wonderfully and the smell is really uplifting – perfect for spring cleaning!
