1) I’ve been wanting to go back to Slimming World for ages now but I kept finding a reason not to and saying that I would just do it without actually joining up which is all well and good but without the motivation of a set weekly weigh in I’m just no good. I’ve been doing it myself for the last few weeks but struggling a little so I finally bit the bullet and signed up to the online membership. Before I did though, I searched for a discount code online and got £35 off a three month membership- yes, I went long term because I *think* I’m more likely to stick to it longer if I’ve paid for it. 😉
The moral to that story is to always search for a discount code before you buy anything – ‘Discount code {company name} 2017 – is what I type into Google!
2) I made Miss Frugal’s Birthday cake last weekend and it sent down brilliantly. Her friends were all so impressed and couldn’t have been nicer about it even though it looked far from a professional shop bought version!
I’ll share my recipe with you next week but for now, I’ll just leave you with a sneak peak of the finished cake.
3) I got my haircut on Wednesday and it cost me a bargain £7.00! I don’t do fancy when it comes to haircuts so I just pop to the salon around the corner where the girls there are more used to blue rinses and perms than anything else as their clientele are mostly from the elderly community. 😉
4) We had a delicious tea last night which was inspired by the fact that we had come shicken and boiled potatoes left over from Wednesday night’s tea and some sad looking veggies in the fridge that looked like they needed using up. I only have the before cooking picture as I forgot the after one as it smelt so nice but we had this with some rice and Slimming World curry sauce and it was amazing!
As well as the potatoes and chicken, it’s also got cherry tomatoes, butternut squash, onions, peas, green beans and some green pepper in there. I sprayed it with Frylight and cooked at about 200 c until it was all cooked through. Mmmmm!
5) I’m off to London for the day tomorrow for a blogging conference (which I’m really nervous about to be honest) and I’m all set with everything I need to have a great thrifty day! I’m going to make a little breakfast picnic tonight to eat on the ridiculously early train I’m booked on, lunch is provided at the conference and I’ll take a few snacks to eat on the way home as well as some bottled water. It’s a really long day and I don’t want to have to spend a fortune on food or drink so I’m being organised so I won’t have to.
I’ve got some business cards which I love as they’re made from recycled t-shirts rather than card and a new notebook that I’m hoping to fill with all the things I learn while I’m there! I’m also taking my laptop to work on the train so the 2.5 hours each way will be productive although I think I’ll sneak my Kindle in as there’s plenty of time for that too.
And as usual I wanted to remind you about my Live Well, Spend Less Facebook group. We’d love to welcome you into our little community if you fancy popping in.
As always, we’d love you to join in with us by sharing what frugal and thrifty things you’ve been up to this week – whether it’s an Instagram picture (#5frugalthings), a blog post or even a video. Just add your link to the linky at the bottom of this post.
You don’t have to share five things you’ve done, anything thrifty or frugal that you’ve been doing is perfect.
You’re more than welcome to copy and paste the badge above but it would be even better if you could let your readers know that you’re linking up with us by adding a little line to the bottom of your post like this one:
I’m linking up with this Cass, Emma and Becky in this week’s ‘Five Fabulously Frugal things I’ve done this week’ linky.
