At this time of year I need all the help I can get to stay positive and
Smile
It’s hard not to be happy when you’re smiling and the feeling is even nicer if you’re smiling at someone else or thinking happy positive thoughts.
Reach out to an old friend or someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
Sometimes life gets in the way of keeping in touch with friends and family and I always feel happier after a good catch up.
Get a good night’s sleep
If I don’t have a good nights sleep then I feel grumpy all day the following day so it follows that a good nights sleep will make for a much happier day!
Have an attitude of gratitude
I have a good job, a lovely home and a happy and healthy family so I try to be grateful for what I have and not wish for things that I don’t have. I’m not saying that I’m particularly successful and not wanting things I don’t have but it does at least make me smile when I think about the things that I do have.
Write a list of things that are on your mind
It definitely makes me feel happier when I get everything that’s on my mind down on paper. It helps me to sort through things and clear them out of my head and if it’s something that I’m particularly worried about then I think through the worst case scenarios to show myself that it’s probably not as bad as I think it is!
And if all else fails you could search funny cat videos on YouTube – I hear it’s impossible not to smile when you watch some of those!
What do you do to make yourself happy?
