It occurred to me when I got my new phone recently that I had a LOT of photos on my phone – some of which I absolutely love.
It’s such a shame that they just sit in my phone and never get seen unless I’m scrolling through my photos looking for something specific – today’s post is all about some of the ways I’ve thought of to share my photos a bit more.
So what can you do with your favourite photos? Here’s five ideas…
1. Buy a photo locket necklace
When I was younger, one of my favourite ever presents (seeing as I was deprived of a Mr Frosty) was a locket that my Mam and Dad bought me one year for my Birthday. I remember puzzling for ages as to what photo I wanted to put in there and having to look through the piles of printed photos we had for one where the part I wanted to put in the locket was just the right size.
It would be much easier these days with it being so easy to upload, resize and then print the photo you wanted from the comfort of your own home but because it was the olden days, I was super limited and ended up with a picture of my dog at the time but even then it was a poor picture as I had to chop her ears off to get the photo the right size to go in my heart shaped locket – I still loved it though and am convinced it would be a great way to keep one of your favourite photos close to your heart. 😂
2. Turn it into a personalised gift for someone
I love a good personalised gift and in the past, I’ve made my favourite photo memories into photo books (I had the idea of one per child per year at one point which lasted exactly one year), a mousemat that was never used and a calendar that never got opened past January as the person I bought it for wasn’t really a calendar type person in hindsight.
I love the idea of making some of my favourite photos into a personalised jigsaw puzzle though and am seriously considering making a collage for Miss Frugal of some of our favourite New York moments for her Birthday
I think it’s such a sweet idea and something that’s a bit different!
3) Print them out and frame them
I know this is a super obvious one but just print your favourite pictures out, put them in a cheap frame from the pound shop of IKEA and display it somewhere where you can see them every day. I did that with my photo shelves in my kitchen and it makes me smile every time I look at them.
4) Make some photo keyrings
Homemade photo keyrings are great for little gifts for the grandparents, god parents or just to keep for yourself and they’re super cheap to make! I found the blank keyrings on Amazon this morning at a cost of £2.99 for five which makes them really affordable – all you need to do is add your favourite photos and you have a lovely little keepsake.
5) Make a custom t-shirt
Our pound shop last week had some iron-on photo paper which you could use to print out one of your favourite photos and then transfer it to a t-shirt so you can wear your memories.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t buy it as I wasn’t convinced (a) that the quality of the paper would be good at five sheets for a pound or (b) that the kids would be happy with me wearing them on a t-shirt!
But if you have more accommodating children than I have then you can get around the quality issue by buying some slightly more expensive paper with good reviews that show it works.
