I always find it surprising when I asked the kids what they enjoy doing and what they would like to do together mainly because it often turns out that they really don’t want to do some of the things I thought they would enjoy doing!
I’ll plan a lovely day out with a picnic when they would rather just play in the back garden with their water guns or I might plan a movie afternoon when they’d much prefer to be outside at the park.
To get round this, I always get them both involved when we’re making plans for a day out (or even a day at home). When they were younger we used to make a wish book at the start of each school holiday so I knew what sort of things they wanted to do but now I just get them both to write a list of 10 things they would like to do.
I know it’s not the prettiest printable but if you click on the image, it will take you to the A4 version and you can print it out to use yourself if you want to. It’s great to do before the school holidays and really helps to plan time off together.
It’s only two weeks to half term now for us so I’m starting to get organised as I have the week off with them and we’re all really looking forward to our week off together. Believe me, we need it after all the germs and bugs we’ve had lately!
