Every week (ish) I share five frugal things that I’ve done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.
Hey! 👐
1) Anyone who’s been here for a little while will know that I love starting these weekly posts with some bargain flowers and this week is one of my favourite flowers so I’m super happy today!
I love to have fresh flowers in the house and buying them for myself makes me feel a little bit empowered if I’m honest. I feel like I waited years for someone to buy me flowers every now and again and then one day, I decided that I was done waiting and started to buy my own every now and again.
I rarely buy full price flowers and always look for bargains so these daffodils went straight in my basket when I saw they were reduced to 33p a bunch.
Some were looking worse for wear so I bought two bunches and got rid of the ones which didn’t look like they were going to make it.
2) I did a bit of meal prep on Sunday night so that I was prepped for lunches for the week ahead.
This crustless quiche is great for diabetics as it’s made from eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, brocolli and gammon.
I made it using left over gammon and broccoli from our Sunday lunch and the fact that it’s a crust-less quiche means that it’s great for me as a diabetic so this will do me lunches for this week.
3) Has anyone got the Greggs app?
I’m a huge fan of it, especially this week when I offered to drop some food off for my partner at work as their usual sandwich van hadn’t turned up. I said I’d go to Greggs for him to get a meal deal and a couple of his mates at work asked if I’d mind getting something for them if I was there anyway.
I had no problem doing that at all but even less problem when I realised I could use my app and collect rewards for everyone else’s dinner which means that next time we pop in, we’ll get a free sandwich and drink and a free desert. 😁
4) A couple of weeks ago, I got a bargain drinks bottle that guarantees to keep my drinks cold for 24 hours and this week we’ve bought a Thermos flask that promises to keep drinks hot for up to ten hours.
It was reduced to £5 which was a huge bargain considering it’s on Amazon for £24.
It’s not just the bottle itself was a bargain, it’s more that it’s going to save money for us as my partner works shifts which include night shifts. He often wants a hot drink through the night when he’s on nights but doesn’t have time when he’s on a job to go to the canteen, boil the kettle and make a drink so usually ends up just getting drinks from the vending machine as that’s in the workshop and is super quick.
Now we can make a hot chocolate before he leaves for work at 5pm and it’s still warm after midnight when he needs a hot, sweet drink to warm him up and give him a sugar boost to get him through the rest of the night.
5) I sold something on eBay this week which has been sat there for a while.
I had it on for 10% of the price I was willing to accept for it and have rejected lots of really low offers for my item. I was in no rush to sell it to be fair so was happy to wait for the right buyer to come along.
It wasn’t a huge amount of profit but it’s £24 that I didn’t have before and the item I was selling was actually broken and I was selling it for spares and repairs so genuinely no loss to me to just hang fire and wait for the right offer.
As soon as it was sold, I wrapped it up and posted it out so it was done and dusted.
So, there’s this week’s five frugal things – I hope you’ve all had a happy Frugal week!
