Every week (ish) I share five frugal things that I’ve done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.
Hey! 👐
1) Remember the handbag I bought from the charity shop in our village for a fiver?
Well, I’ve had it on Vinted for ages at what I realise now was a super high price for the Vinted community so this week, I reduced it to £40 and it sold within an hour.
It’s currently on its way to its new home ready to be loved.
Lesson of the week for me was a reminder that something is only worth what someone will pay for it. 😁
2) I’m fully aware that this is the ugliest food photo that you’ve probably ever seen staring out at you from the internet but this was a homemade soup made from some reduced leeks (39p for a bunch) and some potatoes from the bottom of the fridge. I made two big bowls which were super filling for lunch last week but it was a bit bland hence all the pepper you can see.
I don’t want to add too much into the soup because I’m trying to lose some weight now I’m feeling a bit better but I could do with some tips on how to give it a bit more flavour… 😊
3) Do you have the Asda Rewards App?
It’s probably one of my favourite loyalty schemes and I’m pretty sure I’ve told you about it before as there was a point last year where they were running a promotion (for Halloween I think?) where you got to spin a wheel each time you shopped over the course of a month and won a prize. I earned at least £10 from that over the course of a couple of weeks and I’ve been a fan since.
I save everything I earn in the App for Christmas and so far this year, I’m at around £13 which isn’t a huge amount but it’s literally money for nothing as I don’t do anything or buy anything I wouldn’t usually do. abouThis week I was in Asda ready to pay for my shopping when I remembered about the coupons section of the App and found a coupon that gave me £3 off my shopping. Win win.
4) I have a carpet cleaner which does an amazing job when I get time to actually use it. 😁
I usually buy the Rug Doctor carpet cleaner, you know the one that you can buy in supermarkets where you can hire the Rug Doctor machines – it’s just under a tenner a bottle. It does a really good job but I can easily use a bottle each time so when I saw this cheaper version in Home Bargains last weekend.
I bought one to try although at around 20% of the price of my usual carpet cleaner, I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near as good. I didn’t even notice the difference if I’m honest so I’ll be buying this one again in future and I’m super pleased that I gave it a go!
5) We had an 11th Birthday to celebrate last week which we did with a trip to the picture for the Birthday Girl and a few of her friends. I checked on the Cineworld website and you can take food and drink into the screening as long as it’s not hot food or alcoholic.
So rather than pay the massive prices for sweets, popcorn and drinks, we made little movie snack bags which was made up of daft bits like bags of popcorn, cookies, some crisps and a drink. We bought everything in multipacks for between 99p and £1.49 and split it into the party bags which ended up saving a fortune.
We had a lovely time although I genuinely do not recommend Kung Fu Panda 4. 😁
So, there’s this week’s five frugal things!
