Every week I share five frugal things that I’ve done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.
Hey! 👐
1) How on earth is it the last weekend in May already?
I know it’s way too early to properly discuss that day that happens in December but I did order a present today that I’ll be putting away ready for the big day as I saw something on sale that I know will make a fab little present. I’ve also double-checked and I have around £40 in Boots points and just short of £50 worth of Amazon vouchers in my Swagbucks account (here’s my refer a friend link if you fancy signing up) so I feel like I’m doing OK with Christmas prep! 😇
2) I have a new favourite lunch which is not only super tasty but it’s also super tasty – spicy couscous!
One pack of plain dried couscous costs about 70p and that does 3 or 4 portions depending on how hungry I am and all I do is add some dried garlic, some dried chilli, vegetable boullion and any other flavouring that I fancy to the couscous, give it a good stir and cover with boiling water.
It takes about five minutes and it’s good to go which is just what I need when I have a busy day!
3) You can’t tell but Monty and Buddy have had a haircut and a nail clip which we (by we I mean Miss Frugal) did at home saving us a fortune on grooming costs.
I know I’ve said this before but we don’t do this to save money (although that’s a huge bonus obviously) but we do it because Monty HATES going to the groomers to the point where I’d rather he looked a bit scruffy with a home haircut than put him through the stress of it.
We bought some reasonably expensive dog clippers a couple of years ago and we also bought a more expensive pair of nail clippers and they both make it so easy for us to groom and clip them ourselves that it makes the experience quick and painless for them and us. They’ve paid for themselves many times over now and were a really worthwhile investment.
One of these days, I might actually learn how to do it properly so they’re not embarrassed to leave the house for the week following every haircut. 😂
4) Tea last night was Instant Pot mince and onions which was actually leftovers from last week’s tea. I froze what we had leftover and just served it last night in a giant Yorkshire Pudding with some broccoli!
I love a good old super easy tea that involves minimal effort from me!
5) I made a batch of linen spray this week using some peppermint essential oil this week.
I know peppermint essential oil is more invigorating than relaxing but I just love it on my bedsheets!
