Did you know that 10 minutes of jumping on a trampoline is the equivalent of a 30 minute jog?
That’s an amazing fact if you ask me and considering Miss Frugal spends at least half an hour every single day on our trampoline then there’s no wonder that she’s so fit – I could do with spending some time on it myself. 😉
But as much as I value the health benefits of our trampoline, that’s not what makes me love it so much, it’s the pure enjoyment I see on both children’s faces when they’re out there together that makes me happy.
They play on it whatever the weather and I’ve often instagram’ed photos of them on it in the rain or snow over the years. They’ve been on it in the snow and the rain and I’ve photographed them wearing everything from their pyjamas to their swimsuits on there.
It’s great fun on there with a stack of balls from the pound shop and even more fun with unexploded water bombs waiting to be bounced on.
It’s the only place where they both get on without any issues and I often send them out there to bounce when they’re having one of those days where they just can’t get on. It’s a fact in our house that you can’t be angry or moody when you’re bouncing so when I need to cheer them up I send them out for a bounce.
The fact that we have a 10 foot trampoline also made our garden the place to be over the Summer and we actually ended up getting a side gate fitted for the kids to come in and out of rather than through the house all the time.
My children don’t mess about and push each other on there because they know the rules but other children don’t necessarily follow my rules and unless I stand over them, I can’t police them! The fact that we have other children playing on our trampoline though makes it even more essential that it’s well maintained and always safe!
So when I noticed a tear in the netting, I immediately ordered a replacement because a small tear that would be OK for my two (unless it got bigger obviously) is not OK when I have other children to think of too. There are lots of places selling trampoline accessories but I got a great deal on one from Tesco so it was pretty easy to find a reasonably priced replacement net. Easier than fitting it actually! 😉
I now have a safe trampoline again, just in time for Miss Frugal’s Birthday party on Sunday which, if the weather plays nice, will be a beach party in the garden!
