Have you ever opened an e mail and literally squealed (loudly) with excitement? That’s exactly what I did when I opened an e mail from Eon inviting us all to join them in one of the Executive suites at the O2 arena in London to watch Glee Live. I was even more excited when I told my dad about it and he offered to pay for us to have a nice family weekend together in London!
We set off really early on the Saturday morning and had a lovely few hours in the Science Museum before heading to our hotel and finding out that my dad had booked us a suite, with a bedroom, kitchen diner, huge living room, an entrance hall larger than my living room and a huge window overlooking the river…. After running round the suite for half an hour we sat back with our complimentary freshly ground coffee and sparkling water and ate the rest of the mini cheddars and jaffa cakes from our picnic (how classy are we) we got ourselves ready and set off for the O2 arena.
We met up with Emma, Sally, Vic, Amy, Jen & Tim and were taken upstairs to the Executive box, I nearly squealed again when I saw the where we’d be watching the show from – there was a big room filled with squishy sofas, a buffet table and a bar (well stocked) and a seating area with a fantastic view to watch the show from. The show itself was brilliant, I couldn’t fault it – I loved every song and the kids loved dancing away to them all and waving their foam fingers. I genuinely can’t describe how much fun it was and unfortunately I don’t have too many pictures as I wasn’t allowed to take my camera up to the box as it’s too powerful or something like that but take my word for it, the show was fantastic, the food was gorgeous and the company I was with made the night for me.
We had a few tears from Master Frugal on and off through the evening and I did think at first that he was a bit overwhelmed by it all but at one point he went up to the squishy sofas and had a sleep so I had a feeling he was coming down with something. It didn’t stop him from enjoying the show though and we all really did have a fantastic night so thank you so much to Eon for inviting us. We really can’t thank you enough.
Master Frugal was still a bit whingey the next morning and after breakfast we set off with plans to spend the day in London and then head home around five ish but somewhere between our hotel and Central London, he turned into a giant spot (turned out to be chickenpox). I’m not joking, you could see spots appearing on him as we watched and he started to complain of feeling a bit poorly as well so we decided to skip the day in London and head home straight away.
Even with our early return home, we had a lovely weekend, I’m just waiting for them to bring the show out on DVD now so we can watch it all over again (and again and again and again ;-))
