Dear Master Frugal,
I can’t believe it’s been nine years since we were blessed with you – our little Ginger Ninja as you like to call yourself 😉
I want you to know that you make me proud every single day!
Sometimes on a night when you’re asleep (usually snoring like your Dad), I sneak into your room and just stare at you and wonder how on earth I got lucky enough to have you as a little boy. I also want you to know that I will be keeping the recording of you snoring and playing it to every single girl you bring home along with showing them the photo of you dressed in a cheerleading outfit when you were two!
You’re kind and caring and yes, you’re a little bit of a worrier but you know what? That’s what makes you my lovely little boy. There’s not many children who would spend their own money buying some muffins and a tea for a homeless person, or would suggest things to buy for the local food bank when we go shopping or even ask their parents to we buy them less for Christmas and spend some extra money on children who don’t have as much as others. Not many children care so much about other people feelings and genuinely care about other. But you do and I love that about you.
At parents night last week, it wasn’t the fact that you’re doing so well at school and doing work that’s a much higher level than some of your classmates that made me proud because that’s great but it’s not as important as being a good person. It was the fact that your teacher told me how kind you were to others and how confident you were in class that made me so happy.
We know you’re not the bravest child around and it upsets you if people are mean to you or to one of your friends but that doesn’t make you a wimp or a baby like you sometimes worry- it just makes you a good person and I don’t ever want you to change.
You’re getting braver day by day and I can actually see your confidence growing all the time. You’re starting to push your own boundaries but there’s no hurry you know. Do things at your own pace – some children grow up hating roller coasters (like me) so don’t worry if you don’t want to go on one or if there’s something you don’t want to do.
Oh, and you may not be the bravest but there’s every chance you’re actually the clumsiest child on the planet. I know you don’t like us teasing you about it so we try not to but honestly, the fact you trip over absolutely nothing can be a little bit funny. You have to admit that!
Don’t get me wrong, you’re not perfect and you have your moments but they’re actually few and far between so I’m OK with the occasional bad day.
Happy Birthday gorgeous boy.
Love you lots and lots and jelly tots,
Me x x x
P.S. I love how grateful you were for your Birthday cake. You couldn’t believe that we’d put so much effort into it and thanked us continuously for it. We did it because we love you and it was worth every single minute!
