One of our favourite days out this Summer so far has been our day at Harry Potter World as guest of Citroen who invited us to have a test drive of their new C4 Picasso – which is strange because I hate driving and we’ve never made it past the second or third Harry Potter J
We were amazed first of all at the Harry Potter fanatics that were there from all over the world and the sheer number of visitors queuing to get in. Luckily we didn’t have to queue and got to go in through the back way (I’m sure the kids think they’re some sort of VIPs) and the attraction itself is organised so well that you don’t feel like there are as many people there as there actually is if you see what I mean.
Even with our limited Harry Potter knowledge we were fascinated to be on the set where some of the scenes were filmed and to see some of the props and costumes from the films. It was amazing to see how some of the tricks in the films were done and to be part of a couple and we’ve already restarted watching the films so we can make it right through to the end.
Some of the things would probably impress you more if you were a Harry Potter fan – there were lots of oohs and aahs at bits we didn’t really get but we still had an amazing day there and where else will you get to fly your own broomstick?
Be warned though – do not promise your children a wand from the gift shop. Even the chocolate wands were £4 and the cheapest normal (?) wand was £24.99!
And as for the car, I didn’t test drive it as I saw that there was reverse parking involved but I can tell you that just from the tour I had of the car, I am seriously impressed. Impressed enough that I came home and told Mr Frugal about it and he’s keen on test driving one himself.
To me, all cars drive the same (I Know that’s not true but it’s how I feel) so it’s more about the detail of the car itself when I’m looking at buying a new car (that and the colour J). What I love about the Citroen is that it has such great attention to detail – blacked out windows in the back so the kids can play on electronics, built in sun shades, the interior boot light pulls out and is a torch, built in wifi…. Trust me, I could go on about all little touches that add up to making it a great car to be in but you really need to see it for yourself to be convinced 😉
And, you may be interested that we enjoyed our day that much that we’ve been catching up with the films and we’re up to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince now!
