A while ago, I told you all about Embrace Happy which is the brainchild of the lovely Karin from Cafe Bebe. I loved the idea of finding things that make you happy and doing them and even more so the idea that even the darkest days have some happiness in then, even if it takes you a while to find it.
I have tried to make sure that I personally find happiness from every day and even more importantly, I’ve made my own happiness by trying to focus on things that I enjoy and things that I enjoy doing. Trying to make my own happiness more is the reason why I wrote my Autumn Bucket list (that and the fact I love a good list) and I plan to do an update post and a new bucket list at the start of every season – it’s a great focus on the things that I want to achieve and when I do achieve them, I’m happy. 😉
I’ve been trying to think of a way that I can share this with the kids recently because this time of year is the time that they least enjoy. They miss the long Summer days playing out with their friends with no school to think about and they find it hard to be more confined to the house when the weather’s bad.
I want to help them focus a little bit on what makes them HAPPY. Not what they’ve got to be thankful for or anything like that because, although that’s important and certainly has it’s place, I want them to learn to make time for what makes them happy.
So we now have ‘Happy Books’….
They’re just two plain old notebooks with pictures that remind us of a happy time glued on the front but we’re going to fill them with happy things. I’m planning to mirror the meme that was flying about a few weeks ago where people were taking the time to write 3 things that made them happy each day for a week or so but I also thought I would get the kids to stick in photos of happy times and maybe write a little bit about something that’s made them particularly happy.
I’ll let you know how we get on….
