We had home made Pizza for tea tonight – the kids love making this and always eat every bit of it, probably because they think things taste better when they make them.
I don’t usually have any yeast in the house and never buy any especially to make pizza as home made pizza to me is to use up any leftovers in the fridge and not to go out and buy something extra. So the base that I use is like a scone type base and the recipe is probably the easiest thing ever to make.
All you need is 2 1/2 cups Self Raising flour, 30 g butter and 1 cup milk.
To make dough, just rub the butter into the flour and add the milk to make a soft, sticky dough.
Spread on greased baking sheet and top with a mixture of tomato puree and tomato sauce. Pile on your toppings and cheese and then bake in a very hot oven for about 15 minutes.
The bases turned out a bit thicker than I wanted but they all tasted lovely. This one had a chicken topping, we also made a Margarita one and a chicken, mushroom and pineapple one.
