I’m sharing my homemade DIY exfoliating salt scrub with you today and I think you’re going to love it!
I’m all about a good homemade sugar scrub usually but when I went to make a little batch over the weekend, I realised I didn’t have much sugar in the house and I had to make a difficult choice between using the small amount of sugar we had in to make fruit cobbler or to make a sugar scrub.
It was a hard decision to make as I do love a good sugar scrub but in the end, the cake won the battle and I ended up using the sugar for that. All wasn’t lost though as I cracked open my cleaning kit to get out the coarse salt and made a salt scrub instead of the usual sugar scrub.
How to make your own homemade exfoliating salt scrub
1 cup coarse salt (you could use sugar if you have more in than I had)
1/2 cup organic coconut oil
5-10 drops peppermint oil
You can use measuring cups or just normal cups – the main thing is that you use the ratio of 2:1 with double the amount of salt to coconut oil.
1. In a small bowl, heat your coconut oil in the microwave for 15 seconds or until melted (it gets hot quickly so do keep a close eye on it).
2. Mix in 5-10 drop of peppermint oil.
3. Add your salt to a small mixing bowl, pour the peppermint coconut oil in and mix well.
4. Transfer to a mason jar or sealed jar.
5. Scoop a tablespoon out at a time and scrub onto your lower legs and feet.
6. Rinse and wash off (the coconut oil will be slippery in the tub and on your legs so make sure to wash off your legs/feet and the tub so you don’t slip).
Enjoy!
