A couple of weeks ago we were at the Trafford centre and we walked past a stand selling emoji biscuits. Maybe it was because they were the last two left but they didn’t look too emoji like and both kids couldn’t stop laughing at the pathetic-ness of them (totally a word).
Miss Frugal decided that she could do a better job so this weekend, we decided to have a go at making our own emoji biscuits and I’m quite pleased with the results!
For the biscuits, I used our trusty three ingredient biscuit recipe because (a) we’ve used it that often that I know if off by heart and (b) the biscuits hold their shape perfectly in the oven so I knew we’d have perfect round shapes when they were cooked.
The recipe made 9 good sized circles and once they’d cooled down we iced them with a thick mix of icing sugar, water and yellow food colouring. I use gel food colouring as it gives a much more vibrant colour!
We let them set overnight and then got to work with some black sugar paste and some white icing made by mixing a little water with some icing sugar.
They’re delicious and so cool that the kids wanted to offer them around to all of their friends which means that within ten minutes, they’d ALL gone.
Master Frugal wants to try his hand at the poo emoji next but I’m really not sure how I feel about that!
