The jury is still out on my homemade mint crisps. They were fun to make and tasted nice but I don’t think you could bring them out at the end of a dinner party and wow your guests (not that I ever have dinner parties lol).
They were so simple to make, all you need is a biggish bar of dark chocolate and a packet of extra strong mints.
Using a rolling pin bash the extra strong mints into little pieces, I left a few larger bits to make it more crunchy – Don’t do this as Mr Frugal nearly lost his tooth biting into one!
Then melt the chocolate in the microwave (or the old fashioned way if you are more patient than me) and stir in your bashed mints.
Then pour the mixture onto a flat baking tray and spread it thinly (I used two smaller dishes and I don’t think this worked as well as a baking tray would have).
Cool in the fridge until the mix sets hard and then break into smaller pieces.
You can see from the empty tray that they went down very well, they just don’t look as professional as I envisioned….
