I don’t know about you but I seem to find myself being added to numerous Facebook groups recently and looking down the list of things I’d been added to the other day, I found a group that I thought I actually might like so instead of deleting it, I clicked on the link to view the group.
I’m not going to name the group but the first post I read was a lady who had mentioned that she was feeding her children hot dogs for lunch. Now I know as much as the next person that there is very little nutritional value to a hot dog but the comments that this lady was getting from some people were ridiculous.
As I’ve said before, I believe that everything is OK in moderation and as I’ve got no problem with my children having the odd hot dog or two because I know what they eat the rest of the time. By the time I read the comment from someone saying this person was a bad parent, I had decided I didn’t want to be part of a group like this!
Are people so perfect that they can judge other parents for daring to feed their child a hot dog?
So, on principle we’ve had hot dogs for lunch today!
But because I didn’t have hot dog buns in, we decided to make pizza toast which is basically a slice of bread lightly toasted spread with a 50/50 mix of ketchup and tomato puree with sliced hot dogs and grated cheese on top. You then just need to grill it until the cheese is bubbling and voila, an unhealthy (but very tasty if you’re 9 and like hot dogs) snack for lunch!
I’d love to hear your thoughts about whether you think that giving a child two hot dogs is in fact bad parenting?
