Right, I’m going all old-school blogger for the next week!
I have a week off work for the first time in so long and I really plan to make the most of it to tick off my ever-growing to-do list. There’s so much that I’ve been wanting to get done but I’ve just not had the time or the inclination since even before the start of the first lockdown almost a year ago. I might be off work but I suspect I’m going to be even busier than usual with everything I’ve got planned.
So for one week only, I thought I’d go all old-school on you and blog every day with an update on what I’ve been up to. Almost like blogging was when I first started way – I’d literally just sit down on the settee and knock up a post in fifteen minutes with just a couple of paragraphs about what I’d done that day or where my head was at. Sometimes, I didn’t even add a photo!!! 😂
Let’s go…
Saturday
My plan for today was to get up super early and get my week off to a great start with a brisk walk on the beach with the dogs – I even charged my Fitbit (that’s not actually a Fitbit but I can’t remember what it is) so I could keep track of the many steps I was confident I’d be getting in before breakfast.
What actually happened when my alarm went off to get me up for my dog walk was that I was so comfy in bed that I snoozed it three times before eventually admitting defeat and turning it off completely. I eventually got up and made it up to the dogs by throwing their ball into the garden for them a couple of times while sitting on the floor in the kitchen wrapped in a blanket drinking a can of Pepsi Max.
I know, I know.
After taking delivery of my sticky back plastic order and realising that the pink marble effect may have looked better online than it does in person, I decided to change today from sticky back plastic project day to batch cooking day so I could have a really good think about whether pink marble is going to be a good look for my bathroom cabinets or whether I should just back away slowly from that idea.
I had big plans for batch cooking day and I was armed with a list of meals that I was planning to cook:
- Homemade Spicy Arrabbiata Sauce
- Mince and dumplings
- Slow Cooker Beef stew
- Instant Pot shredded chicken
I may have failed with the dog walk and the sticky-backed plastic but I absolutely nailed batch cooking day and managed to get everything on my list done and into the freezer…
I even did next week’s meal plan and got that written onto my little meal plan board…
So there you have it, my first day off and I’ve managed to fill a drawer in the freezer with homecooked meals ready to be brought out when I need a quick and easy meal!
I really do want to get as much ticked off my to-do list this week as possible because I’ve genuinely put off so much for so long and let myself get away with the ‘oh well, we’re in a lockdown’ excuse for way too long. I’m pretty sure that if I can do it, I’ll feel so much better in myself and be ready to tackle the rest of this year. 😇
