In case you’re wondering where I’ve gone, I’m still here. I’ve just had a bit of an odd few days….
I had a bit of a close call on Friday afternoon driving home from work when a truck that was overtaking me pulled back into my lane and hit me at around 50mph. I somehow managed to get out of the car with not even a scratch which is a miracle considering my poor car is massively dented from the front to the back and the doors won’t even open or close properly now. The driver got out and straight away apologised and said it was because I was in his blind spot – he should have known I was there though seeing as he had just bloody overtaken me!
To make things worse, everyone else was at home waiting for me to get home as we were supposed to be going away for a family weekend but obviously there was no way we were driving anywhere anytime soon. We ended up having to get a train to Manchester which meant, taking into account the length of the journey and the delay in setting off, that we didn’t even get to our hotel until 6pm on Friday. By the time we’d got something to eat and treated the kids to a quick round of minigolf and laser quest, it was time to go back to the hotel.
We tried to cram lots into Saturday to make up for lost time though by visiting the Imperial War Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry followed by the One Direction matinee concert at the MEN Arena (which was brilliant).
After the concert we had paella and cupcakes from the street market and witnessed a serious crime – someone actually tried to steal the life size cardboard cut outs of the boys from One Direction from Primark before being chased by three big burly security guards!
Sunday was my birthday – yeay. We went to Legoland, stopped off at Old Trafford and then managed to miss our train home ending up on some diverted service that took forever to get home.
So now we’re all caught up – normal service will resume tomorrow 😉
