Today I’m sharing the perfect spicy bean burger recipe with you!
A couple of week’s ago we went bowling to a place called TenPin in York and treated ourselves to a cheeky burger and fries while we were there. I had a spicy bean burger and it was honestly the nicest burger I’ve had in a long time!
I’ve been trying to recreate the recipe but I couldn’t pin down the various different tastes and I can’t find any info online so my version is very different to the one I was originally trying to recreate. It’s still a lovely spicy bean burger though so I thought I’d share it with you….

Perfect spicy bean burger recipe….
This is the perfect spicy bean burger recipe - believe me, I spent long enough trying to perfect it.
Ingredients
- 300 g potato boiled potatoes
- 400 g canned black beans
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1 large onion, , finely chopped
- 1 green pepper, , finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, , finely chopped
- 1 tsp dried chilli flakes
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Mash the boiled potatoes and black beans together and set to one side.
- In a small amount of oil, fry the onion and peppers along with the chilli, cumin, coriander, garlic and paprika until they're just starting to soften.
- Stir the onion and peppers into the potato and bean mix gently.
- You can make the mix into burger shapes now if you want by taking a small amount and rolling into a ball. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs into a bowl and squish your bean balls into burger shapes in the bowl to coat them in the breadcrumbs. Be very gentle and use a spatula to transfer to a frying pan where you need to fry the burgers being very careful when you turn it over as they'll be quite fragile.
- You could, if you prefer, pop the bean burger mix into the fridge to chill before making the burgers.
- They're fab served with a bit of sliced avocado and some cherry tomatoes!
