Instagram is my absolute favourite social media platform (as long as we’re not counting Pinterest :-)) and it’s definitely my favourite way to waste spend the odd few minutes throughout the day when I have some spare time!
I love the little glimpses it gives me into what’s going on in other people’s lives and sharing little snapshots of what’s happening in my own life but lately, with the new crazy algorithm I’ve not been enjoying it as much.
I’ll open up the app and instead of seeing recent posts, I’ll see ones from the day before because Instagram thinks I’ll like them better! I see motivational quotes, photos advertising blog posts and even posts where people have simply shared a message they’ve written using another app instead of a photo. Which is all well and good if that’s what you like to share but it’s not for me personally.
I want to see a bit more real life and more to the point, I want to see you lot and the things you do to every day to save money – no matter how small you think they are.
And you know what? I’m not the only one who wants to see more of your thrifty posts because when I was chatting with one of my best blogging buddies, Becky, she said exactly the same thing. And that’s when our little idea was born….
We want you to join us in using the hashtag #InstaThrifty whenever you share a post over there that has anything to do with being thrifty – whether it’s something directly money saving like a bargain you’ve got, something you’ve up-cycled or something you’ve saved some money on or something less obvious like a home cooked meal or a cheap day out.
We want to see it all!
If you tag your photos in Instagram with #InstaThrifty then we don’t need to just cross our fingers and hope Instagram decides to share your photos with us, we can just click on the hashtag itself and find you all in one place! Once a week, we’ll choose our favourite and share them and hopefully, when we get a bit bigger we’ll have a prize for our favourite posts of the week.
So please, do come on over and find us on Instagram and let’s start our own little #InstaThrifty Community!
You can find me on Instagram here and the lovely Becky here.
