When I was tidying my kitchen cupboards last weekend (in my defence, I was too ill to go out but well enough to be bored) and I found some cola flavoured jelly that I bought from Morrisons last Summer.
I decided to make it up as a treat for the kids for after tea but as I boiled the kettle, I spied the hardly touched bottle of Jack Daniels that had been sitting on the shelf untouched since Christmas.
I’m sure you can tell what’s coming here….
I made up the jelly following the instructions but didn’t add as much boiling water as I was supposed to – I think I left out about 150ml of water.
I let the jelly mix cool for 10 minutes and then added Jack Daniels straight into the jelly mix. Originally I was going to add 150ml water so the jelly shots would set to the same consistency as jelly but when I did the finger dip test I decided that the jelly would definitely benefit from another glug of Jack Daniels so in went a little bit more. 😉
I then poured it into my silicone molds and popped them into the fridge to set for a couple of hours. They were a bit messy when they came out of the molds so I have no photos to show you but I can confirm that they were indeed delicious and just slightly wobblier than normal jelly (which is why they were so difficult to get out of the molds I think).
Anyway, I wasn’t going to share this with you because I don’t have an after photo and couldn’t recommend making them in silicone cases if they were for a special occasion due to the mess getting them out but then today, I saw 20 small plastic shot glasses in the pound shop which would be perfect to make these in.
And you don’t need to stick to Jack Daniels and Coke flavour – just choose a complimentary jelly flavour to go with whatever alcohol you have in to use up.
Perfect for Summer barbecues, girly night’s in or just for you….
(Just remember to keep them out of children’s reach and try not to remember to share ;-))
