This week, Master Frugal told me I was quite a cool Mum but that if I wanted to be really ‘down with the kids’ then there were certain things I had to learn.
He very kindly offered to teach me what I needed to know and I thought some of you might benefit from my new found knowledge so here we go, here’s his top tips for being a supercool parent.
Anything that claims to be cool is absolutely not cool. In fact, a bag that Miss Frugal loved instantly became a no-no when we saw that the company were advertising it as a ‘Super Cool Satchel’
It is not cool to shorten names for places. Poor Master Frugal was horrified when I said I was going to park in Sainsbos carpark and has made it quite clear that I am never to do that again!
Cool people have a nickname. He suggested that I make up a nickname for myself and even suggested that he call me Cass instead of Mum. Erm, no!
Be a bit of a rebel. He suggested that sometimes I beep my car horn for no reason at all or even wave at people I don’t know.
Be yourself. I like this one.
Learn text speak. This one is from Miss Frugal because I regularly have to ask her to explain a text to me. I wrote an online dictionary a few years ago so I thought I knew most abbreviations but since she started texting I’ve learned a whole new batch.
