I know I’m not the only one struggling at the moment with the lack of routine at the moment and I know that if we’re feeling this way then kids across the country will be feeling it too. I thought a kids morning routine checklist might help some of your little people to cope with 2021 life a little better.
I am super lucky as I can still head into work when I need to which is often based on the quality of my Wifi at home and on those days, my routine is exactly as it always has been other than the fact I don’t have to get up as early as there’s so much less traffic on the roads.
On days when I’m at home, I really try and follow the same routine right up until the point that I put my shoes on and leave the house so it feels like I’ve made an effort and life is a bit more normal than it actually is and I really find that helps me.
I thought kids might feel the same so I’ve got this kids morning routine checklist for you to print out and give to your children so they can tick off their tasks as they go along. It brings a bit of normality and routine to their day and a sense of accomplishment when they tick off everything.

It benefits you as a parent too as you can do a super quick check-in to make sure where they’re up to on a morning!
I used to have a similar thing for my two and gave them it on a clipboard with a pen attached to it and they loved ticking things off as they went down the list – obviously, they say they’re way too old for things like this now but I’d love to get my younger teen back on to one of these as he’s struggling with a morning routine of his own.
