You probably know I’m part of the Netflix #StreamTeam and have been for a while now but what you might not know is that we’ve had (and paid for ourselves) Netflix for a few years now and I want to tell you today why we love it so much.
First of all, it’s great for the kids – when you sign in you have the option to go to just shows suitable for children which I love. There’s nothing on there that I don’t want them to watch so I don’t have to police what they choose to watch. There’s lots of shows for them to watch when they want to watch them including some shows they can’t watch anywhere else on TV (like the new show, King Julien, which is really good if you’re interested). I also love that there aren’t any adverts trying to sell toys to the kids that (a) they don’t need and (b) I probably can’t afford anyway.
There’s also some great shows that I can watch with the kids that we can all enjoy. Miss Frugal and I have just finished up to season 3 of 90210 so I was over the moon to see that season 4 is on there to watch now. I’m also trying to get her interested in Charmed but she’s not feeling the love for it yet but I’m looking for something else if anyone has any recommendations.
Master Frugal is very much into David Attenborough documentaries and is loving the Blue Planet and Planet Earth at the moment.
The best part of Netflix by far though is the great choice of shows that we watch together as a family but where it really pays for itself is the shows for grown ups or as I like to call it, the ‘after the kids have gone to bed’s shows.
At the moment we’re part way through watching The Good Wife which is my new favourite TV show and I have a list of shows that I want to watch next which includes Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Game of Thrones and possibly Orange is the New Black. I think I’m the only person in the world who hasn’t seen some of these shows!
I’m not TV obsessed and despite what you might think, I don’t actually watch that much TV but when I do watch it, I like to enjoy what I’m watching which is why I love Netflix.

I am part of the Netflix #StreamTeam and received an Ipad Mini for the purposes of my reviews but the fact is that we’ve had Netflix for years and we love it.
Have not tried netflix as there is plenty on TV to watch without adding something else
We love Netflix, I cancelled my Sky subscription because Netflix was just so much cheaper and had something for everyone.
I have to admit we just use the Sky and have never really considered it. May have to have a rethink.
Yay! I’ve been toying with getting netflix for a while now but was struggling to find anywhere that could tell me what type of series would be on there. I’ve recently got rid of sky as a cost cutting exercise and the fact that I watched very little on the sky channels…apart from Sky Atlantic and my fave show game of thrones so I’m made up to hear it is shown on Netflix and also want to watch orange is the new black. Yippee. Think I will sign up for it. Thanks
We have netflix and get a lot of use out of it!
i don’t have Netflix but shows I liked when I was younger are:
The oc
Make it or break it
Greek
I hope that’s some help
We should look into this and get rid of Sky x
I used to love watching Charmed. Have you watched Grimm? That's very good with a supernatural element to it.
I love Netflix! Currently addicted to Gossip Girl! xxx
I'm reading more and more about how good Netflix is – really must give it a try some time. I share your love of Charmed and am looking forward to the day my two are old enough to enjoy it with me!
We recently changed to Netflix from Love Film and are really really pleased with it!
I started watching Life on Mars last night actually, was on TV a few years ago and I remember why I love it. I thought I was the only one in the world not to have seen Game of Thrones! I got into it when Season 4 was on tv then watched Season 1 – 3 before it even finished then caught up on season 4 once it finished – just ordered the 5 books today so i'll be reading them for the next year no doubt! You have to watch Orange is the New Black. I was convinced I wouldn't like it and it was absolutely brilliant! I sound tv obsessed now but I dont often get to watch tv when it's actually on at night as I seem to be forever working so when I go to bed I pop netflix on my laptop and watch an episode of something to chill out for half an hour.
I have not tried Netflix simply because I like to watch foreign channels and I don't think they would have many Asian and Bollywood kind of films on there. If they did – I would certainly be interested.
I've never tried Netflix before as we have Sky but it sounds really good and I would love to give it a try 🙂
Oh God you have reminded me that some years ago I was addicted to Charmed. Gosh I had completely forgotten about that. Years before that I was also addicted to 90210. We've never ever tried Netflix but I love what you say about no adverts as Aaron is always asking me for something. Lucky you being on the #StreamTeam I would love to try it too.
Really informative post which I really enjoyed.
Liska xx
We have just become part of the stream team and we are ALL loving it
