I know that you don’t need money to have fun.
If your children are anything like mine, they could have fun together in an empty room. They can make their own fun out of whatever they have at hand, whether it’s an empty cardboard box or a pen and paper.
But, this is the Summer Holidays which means that they have six long weeks stretching out in front of them and with so much time to fill, it seems very likely that we’re going to need a helping hand to get them through without hearing the dreaded I’m bored words.
We’re well prepared this year as we have our wall planner and our I’m bored jar but I can’t (and don’t want to) plan for every day – especially as I’m at work for a ten day stretch in two weeks time. Which is why we decided to join in with the #my99psummer challenge from the 99p stores.
We were given £10.00 in vouchers to buy some fun – and we’re pretty sure we’re going to have a lot with the first batch of goodies that we bought although they’re not necessarily what I would have bought if I’d been in charge of the choosing and not the kids (my vote was for stationery to keep them occupied on the long drive we have ahead of us tomorrow as we’re going away)….
We’re going on holiday tomorrow so I asked them to choose things that we could take with us and I think they did really well – I did have to convince them to put the water guns and water bombs back for now though as I’m not sure that the other guests in our hotel would be overly impressed with being caught in the middle of a water fight!
I’ll let you know how we get on….
What would your children choose to spend £10.00 on?
