I’ve not had a good week this week!
My week from hell started when we got up on Monday morning and Master Frugal clearly wasn’t well enough to go school. He looked white as a sheet and said he was achey all over so I sent him back to bed and arranged for Mr Frugal’s mam to come and sit with him while I was at work. When I came home, he was snuggled up on the settee sound asleep, I pulled back the blanket to give him a hug and instantly noticed that he was burning up and I mean really burning up! We ran him a cool bath to try and cool him down but when I undressed him I noticed the beginnings of a rash breaking out which immediately started me off in panic mode. I was in such a state that I couldn’t remember whether the rash should stay or disappear when you roll the glass over them (for the record, it should disappear) and I couldn’t get my thermometer to work to check his exact temperature. I rang the doctors who told me to bring him down immediately. The poor little thing didn’t even have the energy to walk to the car. When we got to the doctors they rushed us straight through, after a thorough examination I was told he had a viral infection with a temperature of 38.5 and that I had to keep a really close eye on his temperature.
I popped in to the supermarket with him on the way home to buy a new Thermometer but they didn’t have one which actually reduced me to tears. I ended up stood in the shop hugging him and crying, that’s how scared I’d been that there was something awful wrong with him. I wonder why people were giving me funny looks….
The next day he seemed a bit better and even had a little play with his toys in the morning, but after a nap in the afternoon he got up looking even worse than the day before and when I took his temperature with my shiny new thermometer, it showed 39.5. Cue another call to the doctors who again told me I had to take him straight down. They examined him and said the same as they did the day before, he had a viral infection and I had to keep a close eye on him. Poor thing, I’ve taken his temperature about a million time since then and I’m so relieved that it gradually reduced and is now back to normal although he does seem to have developed a bit of man flu now but I can cope with that 😉
Then yesterday we had a trip to the hospital with Miss Frugal. She’s been suffering from dizzy spells for the last couple of months and they seem to be getting more frequent as well as lasting longer than they were before so our doctor sent us to the childrens ward at the hospital. After an hour and a half of poking, prodding and quizzing, they sent her for an ECG and told us to come back in a month when they’ll consider doing a brain scan! They have said that the signs don’t point to anything serious but it’s a concern that they can’t say what the cause is. On the plus side, she loved the ECG and can’t wait to take the print out they gave her to school on Monday.
In the middle of all this, my car’s been playing up which has cost even more money (shortly after the massive bill for the water pump and exhaust).
I haven’t slept properly in a week which means I’m exhausted, my face is covered in spots and I’m finding it hard to appreciate the lovely weather outside.
Oh and did I mention it was my birthday too 😉
Sorry for the pathetic feeling sorry for myself ramble 😉
