As you probably already know, I started Slimming World back in January and so far I’ve lost a stone which I know is great because a stone is a stone but it’s less than I wanted to have lost by this point and during March I found myself feeling with less determination that I’d started with back in January.
I felt like I was using any excuse not to stick to my diet and although I didn’t put any weight back on, I was practically the same weight at the end of March than I was at the start of the month which is so frustrating!
The the clocks went forward and the nights got lighter and I started to feel more positive again so I decided to start afresh at the start of April. The beginning of Spring seems like a good time to start over as the lighter nights and brighter skies have really given me a much needed boost in the last week or so.
I’ve had a good long talk to myself and I know where I’m going wrong and what I need to do to change things – I need to write down what I’m eating and make sure that I’m honest with myself. That cheeky Viennese Whirl that I accepted at work to go with my cuppa is absolutely OK but I need to make some adjustments elsewhere to account for the extra syns.
Planning ahead is another weakness because I know that I need to have Slimming World friendly snacks in the house for when I’m hungry. If I don’t then I’ll likely to just have whatever’s in and that’s not good! I’m going to plan ALL of my Slimming World meals each week in April so I have no excuses not to succeed!
And my last area to focus on this month is fitness – I haven’t been for a run at all in March so I want to get back on track with that. The lighter mornings might mean that I can get in a run before work – does anyone else do that?
Where I failed in the past is when I’ve set myself silly goals that are almost impossible to achieve so whilst I’d like to say that I’m going to lose a stone in April, I know that’s a bit of a stretch so I’m going to set myself an achievable goal of 2lb a week which would be a great loss of 8lb over the month!
The Institute of Inertia, in partnership with Comparethemarket.com, have challenged myself and a few other bloggers to to prove that when we set our minds to achieving something we want and follow their advice, we absolutely can achieve our goals. If you don’t know what the Institute of Inertia is all about then I’d recommend you have a look over here because I found it really interesting to see how their studies to understand why people don’t take action are actually helping people like me make those small positive changes in their lives.
Wish me luck!
