A couple of weeks ago a small miracle happened – Mr Frugal and I both had a weekend off at the same time! We decided to take advantage and book a cheeky little weekend away with the kids. We had a good look around the Internet and ended up booking a Haven Holiday to Haggerston Castle in Berwick upon Tweed.
We didn’t have much time to get excited as we only booked on the Wednesday to go on the Friday, but by Thursday night the kids were so hyped up that there was no chance of them going to sleep at any sort of reasonable time, in fact this is what we found in our bed when we went upstairs at half ten:
When we got to our caravan, we all the kids ran around opening all the doors and cupboards and screeching things like ‘Look, a toilet’ or ‘Look, a fridge’. The people in the neighbouring caravans must have thought we were a bit simple but we’ve never been in a caravan before though and we weren’t expecting such good standards, it even had a fire and radiators and everything 😉
I didn’t take many pictures over the weekend as I was too busy having fun but here’s a few….
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the weekend was about the kids which is exactly the way we wanted it. They still haven’t stopped talking about it and can’t wait to go back. In fact, we’re planning to go back in a couple of weeks if we can afford it.
From an objective point of view, I can see how Haggerston Castle wouldn’t be everyone’s ideal break, particularly if you don’t have kids but I have to say that the kids are so well catered for that for us, it was perfect.
