One thing about the start of a relationship is really getting to know what your new partner likes and doesn’t like.
You know what I mean, don’t you? It’s the small things like are they a pineapple on pizza kind of person, would they prefer a slice of chocolate cake or a cheesecake and my current dilemma – do they prefer a holiday in the sun, a city break or something a bit different like a city break?
We’ve been debating for weeks what we’d like to do next year for a holiday.
We know we’ll do camping with the kids as we have done for the last couple of years as they love camping and the campsite we go to is so well located in the Lake District that we have so much fun both on the campsite, playing in the lake and enjoying days out in the surrounding areas but what we’re debating is what we do with a cheeky extra trip that we think we might be able to squeeze in.
You know I’m a New York/City Break kind of girl but my partner is a sun seeker and likes to really relax on holiday as he works so hard throughout the year with everything he does.
So… we think we’ve come to a compromise and we’re currently looking at cruises for a week away. I’ve been on a cruise before and I think a cruise will be perfect for what we both want out of a holiday – for me, there’s a different place most days to explore, usually a city and for my partner there’s the time at sea where we can relax together in the sun.
The last time I did a cruise was with Cruise118 when we set sail on one of their cruises from Barcelona, we visited Nice, Monaco, Rome and some random town in Spain that I really didn’t enjoy at all. 😊 I loved the waking up in a different part of the world every day and having somewhere new to explore but also loved the cruise ship which had something going on every day and evening. It was genuinely my dream holiday so I think that this will work out for us as a couple.
Now we just have to work out where we want to cruise as there’s so much choice available! I think we’ve ruled out those that are further afield like the USA or the Caribbean, simply because we’ll only have a week maximum but we’re torn between the Mediterranean or the Norwegian Fjords – both would be amazing for very different reasons.
I’m leaning towards an MSC Cruises itinerary that I’ve seen which includes a 2 night pre-cruise stay in Lisbon as that’s somewhere I’ve never been followed by days in Seville, Granda, Alicante and Menorca among other places. They’re all places that I think we’d enjoy exploring together and the ship itself looks amazing.
I like that we’ve found a compromise holiday that I think we’ll both enjoy which leaves me with just the issue about him not liking pineapple on pizza to deal with.
