Have you heard about the amazing way to save money on your train fares? I thought I'd share how to save money with split ticketing today and also tell you why I personally prefer not to do it!What is Split Ticketing? Split ticketing is a way to save money by buying two or more tickets to travel on a journey where you could just buy one. So, for example, your usual train might go from A-B with one ticket that costs a set amount for the whole journey but you could buy individual tickets that would take you A-C before travelling C-B. Here's the example from the … [Read more...]
The Best Potato Salad Recipe in the World (not even exaggerating)….
I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you that my potato salad recipe is the Best potato salad recipe in the World! Honestly, I have done actual research* and the conclusion was that it's so amazing that it absolutely deserves the title of the best potato salad recipe ever!and so more-ish that I've made it about five times since I first randomly added some ingredients to a big bowl trying to make a 'wow' side dish for a BBQ we were heading to later in the day. *OK, so my actual research involves asking my husband and children but it still counts as research, … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {27 September 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. Mr Frugal and I have never really discussed money in that much detail - we have a joint account and I oversee most aspects of our … [Read more...]
What my teenagers ate last week when I wasn’t there to cook for them….
Last week was a bit of an odd week as I was working a late shift at work during the week so I wasn't at home to cook. I also didn't write a proper meal plan (I know, I'm hanging my head in shame) because I was away in London at the weekend and felt very bleugh when I got home. Mr Frugal waited until I got home for his tea and was on lates himself 3 out of the 5 nights so the kids had to mainly fend for themselves which I would absolutely expect them to be able to do at their age (17 and 14). Let's see how they got on... Monday Homemade Chicken Parmo with chips, salad … [Read more...]

You probably know by now that we're joining in with #SecondHandSeptember this month. ;-) Last week I mentioned in our mini charity shop haul that we'd found a bargain 99p t-shirt and today, I've enlisted the help of Miss Frugal who's volunteered to show us all the different ways you can style the t-shirt so it's perfect for all occasions. The t-shirt she's using today is a H&M oversized black t-shirt which is the perfect length as it's just long enough to pass as a dress as well as be worn as a t-shirt. The best thing about it for me is that it cost just 99p from the sale rack … [Read more...]
