I'm loving sharing my little DIY projects with you lately and I've been dying to share the essential oil mermaid bath bombs with you since Miss Frugal made them a few weeks ago.Miss Frugal went through a bit of a phase where she'd spend most of her pocket money in Lush on those expensive bath bombs that they sell for anywhere between £3 and £5!I have a rule where I try not to interfere with what the kids want to spend their own money on because I don't think they'll learn if they're simply doing what I tell them to do when it comes to money. Does that make sense? So even … [Read more...]
Review: 9/11 Museum, New York…
Visiting the 9/11 museum in New York was one of the most sobering experiences of my life and it took me a while to process the things I saw and heard in there. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a memorial and museum in New York City commemorating the September 11, 2001 attacks, which killed 2,977 people, and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed sixI've been wanting to tell you about our visit to the 9/11 museum in New York for a while but every time I started to write up a review, I stopped because I don't think any words could ever convey the emotion … [Read more...]
Free Budget Planner just for you…
Did you know that I have a totally free budget planner just for you to download and use to plan your monthly budget?I created a basic version using Google Docs when I first started blogging because I got quite a few requests for a free budget planner and ever since then, it's been linked in my menu bar right up there ^^^ at the top of the page. (If you haven't spotted it then you're probably missing out on some other amazing resources (I get that I could well be biased here) like my free personalised poster maker, my cleaning recipes, my much-neglected food section and even … [Read more...]
Chocolate Packed Lunch Cake (between 9p and 11p per slice)….
I've shared a couple of versions of my packed lunch cake over the years but I thought I'd share the cake I've just made with you as it was not only super tasty but at 11p per slice, it's really good value.I first started making this when my two were in junior school as the rules guidelines set by the school at that time were that chocolate and bought cakes were frowned upon but a little piece of homemade cake was acceptable if it was part of a healthy and nutritious packed lunch. I wanted to make something that was a small-ish portion size, that could be cooked in bulk at the … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {9 August 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-)1) I spilt nail varnish on my favourite quilt cover and since them, I've had my eye on … [Read more...]
Three things I won’t give up to save money….
Is there anything you wouldn't give up to save money? That's a pretty tongue in cheek title because there's actually nothing that I wouldn't give up if it was a choice between that or paying my bills and feeding my family. But if I look at my current situation, which is debt free and trying to save for our emergency fund whilst overpaying our mortgage each month, there are things in my life that I won't give up without a fight...Giving these three things up would obviously give us more money to put towards our goals each month and would build up the emergency fund and pay down … [Read more...]
