As much as I love my job, I have no intention of working until I'm too old to enjoy my retirement. Mr Frugal feels exactly the same, so a couple of weeks ago, we sat down and had a good talk about money and what our hopes were for the future.I wanted to share our plans with you to show what we achieved in the space of an hour sat on the settee with a cup of tea because I don't think We'd like to be able to retire at 60 ideally which means that we need to really up our game as far as our financial planning is concerned. I've been doing some research and I've found out that … [Read more...]
Win a giant faux fur beanbag….
If you've ever wanted a giant fluffy faux fur beanbag in your life then today, I'm sharing the perfect competition for you. It's been a while since we've had a competition on here but a couple of weeks ago, the team at Bean Bag Bazaar asked me if I fancied reviewing one of their bean bags and at the same time, running a competition to give one away to one of you lot too.I said yes because we really needed some extra seating in our living room and I've been umming and aahing for a good 12 months now over what it is we want in there. We basically have a big sofa which should … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {2 August 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-)1) I shared on here a few weeks ago that after a discussion with Mr Frugal, we'd … [Read more...]
July’s Frugal Fails – because I’m not always as frugal as you might think!….
This may come as a surprise to you (although more than likely not) but I'm not always a shining example of frugal-ness. ;-) I spend so much time on here sharing ways to save money and ideas on how to be frugal and rarely share much of the non-frugal side of my life so I thought I'd start a monthly post to share some of the slightly non-frugal things I've done! This is the second post in my frugal fails series- the first is here if you want to see last month's frugal fails. Frugal Fail #1 - A Meal Kit from M&SThis one's not on me really as I completely planned … [Read more...]
What my teenager did when she couldn’t get a Summer Job…
We live in a small seaside town so when Miss Frugal finished school, she was pretty confident that she was going to be able to get a Summer job. Unfortunately, it wasn't that easy as she decided to have some time to relax after her exams before she started applying for jobs. By the time she got herself into gear, she was a good few weeks behind everyone else with the job-hunting which means that, as of today, she is still jobless.Luckily she's not one to give up that easily and decided that if she couldn't find a job, she'd make one of her own!So, the weekend … [Read more...]
Leftover Gammon and Cheesy Mash Fritters…
These leftover gammon and cheesy mash fritters are AMAZING - not only do they use up leftovers and transform them into a whole new meal, but they're also easy to make and taste delicious!I made some rainbow vegetable fritters a year or so ago and ever since then, I've been planning to see if I could make something similar with the leftover mash and gammon that we seem to have on a regular basis. Then Jen popped round to collect Maxi (who was playing basketball with Master Frugal for a good three hours solid) and mentioned that she's just made some cod and pea fritters … [Read more...]
