This month's 'Blast from the Past' post is one that I was reminded of this week when I had to threaten Master Frugal with confiscating his Xbox controller if he didn't get his room tidied. I remembered the electronics 'prison' that we made and used for a good few Summers and I thought with the long Summer holidays ahead of us that it was a good time to share again! My children are pretty well behaved most of the time and I rarely have cause to tell them off for anything more serious than a bit of attitude or tidying up after themselves.I know I'm lucky in that respect but … [Read more...]
July in my garden….
It's been a while since I shared a garden update...So, there's good news and there's bad news!First up, the bad news... The Christmas tree seems to be dying a slow death in the corner of the garden despite all of our efforts to keep it alive - we've moved it, we've repotted it and given it everything it could possibly want or need and it's still not looking good for it! Secondly, the blueberry bush has disappeared. It was looking a bit feeble and literally just looked like a twig in a pot the last time I remember seeing it. Then last week, I noticed that … [Read more...]
The best Refer a Friend schemes to help you earn money while helping your friends….
I thought I'd do a bit of a round-up of the best refer a friend schemes today so you can earn some extra money whilst helping your friends earn some too! Word of mouth is probably the most powerful form of advertising right now! It's a fact that people are much more likely to give their custom to a company if someone they know has already had a good experience with them and in the days of social media, it's super easy to tell your friends and to share sign up links with them which is why so many companies have great refer a friend schemes. They want to … [Read more...]
#MealPlanningMonday {15th July 2019}…
It's Monday which means that it's time for #mealplanningMonday again! On Saturday morning, I woke up ridiculously early and decided to give my Meal Planning Made Easy blog a bit of a makeover and I'm not going to lie, an hour in and I really wished I'd just rolled over and gone back to sleep. ;-) I persevered though and by 8.30am I had a new-look foodie blog with a new logo and design.I set Meal Planning Made Easy up back in about 2012/2013 but until recently, I've struggled with a direction for it as there's always felt like such a crossover with this blog which has always been my … [Read more...]
Milk Jelly like your Nan used to make….
My recipe for milk jelly was one of the first recipes I shared on here way back when I started blogging and back then, it was something I made quite often for the kids. I hadn't made it in ages though - until a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd update the photos and share it with you all again.I've left the post pretty much as it was back in 2011 when I first shared it but if you scroll down to the bottom you'll find the printable version of the recipe which is much clearer than the original version along with some more recent photos.I've been thinking about investigating how to … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {12 July 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-)1) You know I love a good frugal floral post and the first of this week's frugal things … [Read more...]
