Now that we're officially into Spring here in the UK, there's a nagging little voice inside me that's telling me that it's time for my annual Spring clean!I have a two proper thorough deep cleans every year - the first is around this time of year in Spring when the sun starts to shine on a regular basis and the second is usually at some point in November in time for the Christmas decorations going up in December.Obviously I do clean regularly in between but these are proper deep cleans where I set aside a weekend, enlist help from everyone in my family and go through the house … [Read more...]
Why it’s now harder to get a 0% transfer credit card deal….
Last week's guest post from the lovely Naomi and Ricky went down so well with you all that I thought I'd ask a few other fantastic UK Money Bloggers if they wanted to share a post with us. This week I'm sharing a guest post by Sara Williams, who blogs at Debt Camel about everything to do with debt and credit ratings.0% balance transfer deals can save you a fortune in interest. If you get one, you can move the balance from your current credit card to the new card you get and then pay no interest for however long the deal lasts – 12 months, 24 months or more. You still have to … [Read more...]
How to colour eggs naturally….
We're getting to that time of year again where the schools are challenging children to decorate eggs creatively so today, I thought I'd share some ideas on how you can colour eggs naturally.I've seen a few egg colouring kits appearing in the shops over the last few weeks and although I haven't bought one, it looks like they're just tablets of colour that you add to the water when you're boiling your eggs. That got me thinking that there must be some natural colourants that you can use instead - just like when we had a go at dying fabrics with food a while ago.I've done lots … [Read more...]
Why I gave half of my clothes away to the charity shop….
**This post does contain a review of some very lovely clothes that I received from Simply Be as part of a review I was asked to do. Opinions are all my own as always.**A couple of weeks ago, I was looking for something to wear to meet one of my friends for lunch and I realised that although I had a wardrobe filled with clothes, they weren't necessarily clothes that I felt good in. Here's why... Some are too small Some of the things in there were too small as I'd bought them in the sales over the years with the optimistic thought that I'd slim down into them but as I'm … [Read more...]
Helping your kids to create a memory scrapbook….
I started this blog to record our family memories and I'm a huge fan of sharing our favourite family moments on Instagram so it's probably not really a surprise that both of my children have a memory scrapbook that I started for them when they were babies. They love looking back at their scrapbooks and as soon as they were old enough, they took over adding in their own memories and now Miss Frugal even has her own travel scrapbook too.Scrapbooking is such a fun and creative way to help us remember the past! The book itself doesn’t have to be just photographs, as ticket … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {22 March 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-)1) I know I'm a bit late to the party but this week, I finally got around to joining … [Read more...]
