A few weeks ago, I made homemade chicken stock in my slow cooker for the first time in ages so I thought I'd share it with you. It's not hard to make and the results are amazing so I'm not sure why or when I stopped making it on a more regular basis but now that I've made it again and realised how much better food tastes with homemade chicken stock rather than when it's made with stock cubes then I'm pretty sure I'll be making it again... and again...When I cook a chicken for Sunday Lunch I can get enough chicken from it to do that one meal and then one other meal which just needs … [Read more...]
My Weight Loss Journey – Week 1 {26th January 2019}….
Last Saturday morning, I took the plunge and joined my local Slimming World group and I thought there's no better way to hold myself accountable for sticking to it than by telling you lovely people. So, here's the story of the first (hopefully of many) weeks on my weight loss journey!I've been to Slimming World before a good few years ago and found it quite easy to lose weight following the plan which is by far the easiest 'diet' to follow that I've ever come across. I was doing quite well when I had a few health issues in 2016 which meant I needed an operation to put … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {25 January 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-)I feel like this week is the first week this year where life in our house has been calm, or … [Read more...]
Soothing Homemade Vapour Rub….
It's that time of year when everyone seems to be suffering from sniffly noses and sore throats! I thought it was probably a good time to share my amazing homemade Vapour RubLast Christmas (not the one just gone, the one before) we were all chock full of cold from the weekend before the kids broke up for school until well into January - possibly February if I remember rightly. The kids especially were coughing so much that even when they had the energy to actually get dressed and do something, I was reluctant to let them venture outside as the cold on their chest brought on coughing … [Read more...]
10 things I’m going to achieve in 2019….
I know we're closer to the end of January than the start but I've been meaning to write this post for weeks now but I just haven't got around to it! I wanted to share with you 10 things that I want to achieve in 2019 - some of which I've started on, some are planned and the rest need some work but they're all things that I'm determined to achieve this year.1. Improve my health I'll share more about this one at the weekend but basically, my health goal this year is to get more active and lose weight. 2. Read more 'meaningful' books I read a lot at the moment, in fact, I … [Read more...]
