Last year I was lucky enough to spend some time with the lovely Pinterest team at their HQ in San Fransisco! It was a fantastic trip and I learned so much that I came home determined to put everything into practice. I did get started on implementing some of the things I learned but life got in the way and I never got around to most of them - in fact, I didn't have much (any) time for Pinterest for most of last year but it's one area that I do want to focus on in 2019 so I've been reviewing my Pinterest to do list and I thought I'd share some basic Pinterest Strategy Tips to get the … [Read more...]
Batch Cooking – One afternoon, twelve family meals….
Batch cooking is something I promised myself I'd get better at this year so, on Saturday, I had my first batch cooking session in ages and now have twelve meals in our freezer ready to use - just think how much time that's going to save me. I'm so lucky to have the freezer space I do - we have one freezer as part of the fridge freezer, one under-counter freezer and one big freezer in the garage - but I really could be so much cleverer when it comes to using the space. It's not that I don't already do a lot of batch cooking but usually, I just cook more food than we need and … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {11 January 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-)1) We bought a HUGE joint of gammon last weekend when we went shopping. It was reduced to … [Read more...]
January in my garden….
Remember my last garden update back in October? My fence had just blown down in a storm and we were waiting for someone to come and build us a new, improved fence.Well, we now have our new improved fence and even though January isn't exactly the best time to do much in the garden, there are a few little jobs that we're getting in with this month.First things first, we have a new addition to the garden although it's debatable whether he's going to be a permanent fixture...Even though it's a container-grown tree and 'should' be able to continue growing happily in a container … [Read more...]
Why I start preparing for Christmas in January….
OK, get your eye rolling out of the way before we start because, yes, today I'm going to tell you why I start preparing for Christmas in January.I totally get that it may seem silly that I start preparing for Christmas in January, but if you think about all of the discounted gift sets, deals and clearance items that practically every store has on their shelf and online, it’s a wonder why more people don't start preparing for Christmas in January.I've found that doing this every year has helped saved me a significant amount of money, so I wanted to share what I do with you all to … [Read more...]
Instant Pot Shredded Chicken….
Shredded Chicken has always been one of my meal planning staples and today, I'm going to share with you my recipe for Instant Pot Shredded Chicken which is the first of my Instant Pot recipes that I'm going to be sharing over the next few months.I bought my Instant Pot in the Black Friday sale on Amazon after lusting after one for a good year or so. The £79.99 that I paid is a lot better than the current cost which seems to fluctuate between £109 and £139 but even so, after using it for a couple of months, I'd be tempted to pay the current price for one. I'm trying to work my way … [Read more...]
