Every year at this time, I have a good think about some of the things I want to change or improve in our lives and it seems to have become a bit of a tradition that I share them with you all here.Usually, my annual resolutions are very similar but this year, I feel like they're a bit different because our priorities are changing. We've reached a point in our life where we have no debt other than our mortgage and we want to start to be more grown up with our money. 1. Meal Planning Ok, I know I say meal planning is mentioned in my resolutions every single year but this year it's a … [Read more...]
Amazing Homemade DIY Shower Spray….
My homemade DIY shower spray is one of my favourite homemade cleaning recipes and considering how often our shower is used, it's one of my most used cleaning products. We have one shower in our house and it's the shower in my en-suite bathroom and whilst I would prefer that the kids (and even the husband) refrained from using my little bathroom, I've had to accept that isn't going to happen anytime soon - unless we have a bathroom redesign in the main bathroom to include a shower but that's not looking likely. ;-)But I do have rules if the kids want to use the shower in my bathroom … [Read more...]
Back to Basics with Budgeting Envelopes….
Today we're going back to budgeting basics with Budgeting Envelopes....It's one thing to sit yourself down, work out your monthly budget and decided how much you should be spending on what but actually sticking to it is a whole different ball game.Paying by card is so much more convenient these days, as is paying using your phone or even a wristband you can simply hold over a machine but they can make it that bit harder to keep track of what you're actually spending can't they?I wanted to share my budgeting envelopes system with you today because it makes it much easier to keep … [Read more...]

I bet it's a pretty high number and I'm pretty sure I know why it happens a lot of the time if I look at my own personal experience. For me, where I've failed at a resolution it's because I've often set myself an unrealistic target for myself which … [Read more...]
Did I do the five frugal things I promised myself I would do this year?
Last year, I made a few promises to myself and shared them here on the blog and today, as 2018 is nearing its end, I thought I'd revisit that post and see if I succeeded.Meal planning I think we can class this one as an 'almost' success. I've had some long periods where I haven't meal planned for one reason or another but I think I've done OK. I resurrected my meal planning blog and managed to get into a real routine for my meal planning with new meals appearing on the plan on an almost weekly basis and as well as my usual Muscle Foods delivery, I even managed to sort myself out with … [Read more...]
