A couple of weeks ago we were at the Trafford centre and we walked past a stand selling emoji biscuits. Maybe it was because they were the last two left but they didn't look too emoji like and both kids couldn't stop laughing at the pathetic-ness of them (totally a word).A photo posted by UK Thrifty Family Blogger (@frugalfamily) on Sep 14, 2016 at 12:14am PDTMiss Frugal decided that she could do a better job so this weekend, we decided to have a go at making our own emoji biscuits and I'm quite pleased with the results! For the biscuits, I used our trusty three … [Read more...]

Homemade lavender and oats bath soak….
You only have to look around the supermarket shelves these days to see a huge selection of bath soaks, bath scrubs, bath oils and all manner of body washes and bubbles and if you wanted to, you could spend a fortune on pampering yourself in the bath. But you don't need to spend a fortune on expensive products to have a lovely relaxing soak in the bath! In fact, I often make my own lavender and oats bath soak and I have done since I went to a blogging event about four years ago where we were shown how to make it.I don't grow lavender in my garden as Master Frugal hates bees and it … [Read more...]
Amazing two ingredient homemade makeup brush cleaner….
According to Miss Frugal, it's a miracle that I've got to the age I have without realising the importance of makeup brushes. Who knew that the little applicators that you get with eyeshadow palettes are practically useless? Or that if you really want seamless foundation then you need to use a weird shaped sponge AND a foundation brush? If you're still as yet blissfully unaware of the need for a whole collection of makeup brushes then feel free to just skip this post. Or you could always buy yourself a set of nice makeup brushes (this is Miss Frugal's favourite brand) so you can try them … [Read more...]
2 Ingredient homemade hair detangler….
I don't know what Miss Frugal does to her hair when she washes it but everytime she gets out of the bath, her hair is a mass of knots and tangles. To make it easier to comb through before scalp plaiting it for bed (she loves curly hair) we usually spray on a little bit of our homemade hair detangler which really does work wonders. We have a spray bottle that we usually use to make our homemade hair detangler in but last week we made up a smaller bottle ready to take on holiday with us. As I was making it, it occurred to me that I'd never written about how we made it before so I took a … [Read more...]
Super Easy Homemade Breadsticks Recipe….
I'm feeling like a bit of a domestic goddess this morning as I have some homemade breadsticks baking in the oven ready to serve at lunchtime with homemade leek and potato soup. I also have a super tidy house and a wash in the washing machine!I could lie and tell you that it's my amazing organisational and culinary skills but it's so not! The tidy house is because Miss Frugal did one her big house cleans for me last night as I was working late, the wash was sorted and put in the machine on Wednesday but then I forgot all about it so I'm just getting around to actually switching the … [Read more...]
Homemade Banana and walnut cupcakes….
I can't be the only person who has a random packet of walnuts in my cupboard!I have no idea where they've come from as they're not something we usually eat but I've managed to use them up today in these delicious banana and walnut cupcakes which were mostly inspired by the two pathetic looking bananas that I spied in the fruit bowl looking like they were way past their best.Homemade banana and walnut cupcakes 160g butter 160g sugar 180g flour 2 eggs 1 tablespoon milk 1 capful of vanilla essence 2 bananas, mashed a handful of walnuts chopped (saving a few larger pieces for … [Read more...]
