Over the years, we've had various different bored jars that have kept the kids occupied during the long Summer Holidays but this year, I'm very aware that, at 13 and 15, the kids are too old for the bored jars we've made and used so much in the past. That's why I thought I'd do an updated version with a bored jar for teenagers!I absolutely HATE the words "I'm bored' and ever since the kids were old enough to say them, I've tried to be prepared with ways to keep them occupied. My favourite things to do this have without question been our bored jars and we've had a few over … [Read more...]
How to make a Pincode to help people find you on Pinterest….
Today I want to share how to make a Pincode to help people find you easier on Pinterest. Before I do though, I should say that having a huge amount of followers is not something you NEED to have to be successful on Pinterest. The key is having great descriptions containing your keywords and relevant hashtags but your followers will be the first people to see your content and in theory, if they engage with it then that's going to add some extra juice to your pin when the Pinterest algorithm is looking at which posts to share more widely.A great pin with everything else going in its … [Read more...]

I wrote this in the Airport as I got there ridiculously early thanks to a mixture of my fear of missing the flight, my excitement to be coming home to see the kids and my exhaustion from trying to … [Read more...]
How to Help Teenagers Cope with Grief….
One of the hardest things to cope with when my Dad died was dealing with other people's grief. The kids especially were difficult to deal with so now that we're over the worst of it, I thought I'd share a few ways that I found to help teenagers cope with grief. When my Dad died, the hospital gave us some books about how to help the kids cope with their grief but when we got them home, they were really aimed at much younger children and really weren't suitable for teenagers cope with grief. We got home from the hospital about 4 am and the kids were obviously sound asleep by that … [Read more...]
June Intentions….
June is a hugely busy month for me so I'm taking a few minutes today to write down the things I want to achieve because I have a feeling if I don't have something down in writing, I'll be sat here in a month's time having achieved nothing I needed to do!Financial IntentionsAs we're finally debt free, I want to be good and start overpaying our mortgage by as much as we can. I've got a standing order set up for payday to overpay every month but I also plan to pay any extra money in when I can - something that I'm imagining won't happen this month thanks to our busy month. We're … [Read more...]
