I shared some word of the year ideas with you all earlier this week and today, I'm going to share what my word of the year is going to be for 2018 and explain a bit more about why I always choose a word to be my personal theme for the year.I know I say this every single New Year's Eve on here but I genuinely love New Year. I feel like it's a great time to take stock of my life and review what went well in the previous year and what I want to change going forward into the next year. For the last few years, I've chosen a word of the year on top of the usual New Year's resolutions and … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I plan to do next year….
As always at this time of year, I start to think about what I want to achieve in the coming year so I thought I'd make todays's 'Five Frugal Things...' post a little bit different.I'm going to share five frugal things than I want to do next year....1) Meal planning is a definite and something I've struggled with a little in the last month or so because, from the last week in November up until after New Year, things are so chaotic around here that managing to plan in some time to actually sit down and eat some nights is an achievement in itself.2) Obviously I couldn't tell you about … [Read more...]
My Wanderlust update….
Last year, I made a promise to myself that, as a family, we would travel as much as we could afford to during 2017. I've been reflecting on 2017 over the past few days so I thought I'd share a little update with you to see how we got on.If you're interested in know why we chose to spend a good proportion of our spare money on travel during 2017 then you can find out why here but the result of our decision was that we spent a lot of time hunting for bargains and saving money where we could to be able to afford to pay for our travel plans. It's not a decision we took lightly because … [Read more...]
Leftover Turkey and Ham Pie….
We were planning on just getting a chicken for this year's Christmas Dinner but at the last minute, we decided to buy a turkey crown, which we all know means lots of leftover turkey to use up! We had Turkey sandwiches for lunch and some sliced gammon and egg for tea on boxing day and last night we had amazing leftover turkey and ham pie.It was so delicious that I thought I'd share it with you because it's an amazing way to use up any leftover meats you have and you could also add leftover veggies to it if you don't use them all up in the bubble and squeak for Christmas Day … [Read more...]
Three Ways I got FREE Christmas presents this year….
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! I wasn't sure if we would because it was the first year without my Dad joining us as he wasn't well enough and the kids were both quite poorly with this bug that's going around. After a lovely Christmas Eve visit with my Dad and thanks to the magic of Lemsip, Vicks and Olbas Oil, we had a very low key, chilled day at home which was so nice and so different to how we usually spend Christmas Day. The kids were super pleased opening their presents this year and we were just as pleased as we managed to get some great deals and even better - we managed … [Read more...]
Word of the Year ideas….
OK, I know it's only boxing day but I've been putting some thought into what my word of the year will be next year and although I'm not going to share that with you until tomorrow, I am going to share some word of the year ideas with you today that might help you choose what your word of the year 2018 is going to be.I always choose a word of the year and unlike a New Year's Resolution which is very specific and often forgotten about by the end of January, my word of the year stays with me throughout the year. It's not a specific goal or target that I want to reach, it's something I … [Read more...]
