Could your kitchen do with a bit of a refresh? I've just given my kitchen a super quick, super cheap budget makeover and I'm so pleased with it!We've got a few things that we want doing around the house over the next few months and to be honest, the kitchen wasn't even on my makeover radar until lovely Mr Frugal got out the paint one Friday night a few weeks ago and painted it a lovely clean white for me. We haven't painted it since we moved in so it was in desperate need of a refresh and seeing it look all white and lovely makes me very happy! We do have bigger plans for the … [Read more...]
Homemade Rainbow Layer Birthday Cake….
I definitely wasn't blessed with many baking skills so all I'll say about the homemade rainbow layer Birthday cake is that if I can make it, you certainly can!(This post may contain affiliate links - I'm just putting it out there so you know. You pay the exactly the same price but I'll get a few pennies too)I blame Pinterest for making me want to be one of those Mum's who whips out a beautifully decorated cake at a Birthday party filled with teenagers who probably would have been just as happy with a shop bought Colin the caterpillar cake! There I was innocently browsing through … [Read more...]
Great things never come from comfort zones….
This weekend I did something that was so far outside of my comfort zone that I genuinely considered not doing it! The fact that I did it was a bit of a game changer for me - here's why....I know the title of this post sounds very deep and philosophical - not like me at all - but I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself right now so I hope you can forgive the odd motivational quote or two. ;-)So, back in April, the UK Money Bloggers annual blogging conference and awards were announced. I was away for last year's even but honestly, even if I hadn't have been, I probably wouldn't have … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {22nd September 2017}….
1) I've been wanting to go back to Slimming World for ages now but I kept finding a reason not to and saying that I would just do it without actually joining up which is all well and good but without the motivation of a set weekly weigh in I'm just no good. I've been doing it myself for the last few weeks but struggling a little so I finally bit the bullet and signed up to the online membership. Before I did though, I searched for a discount code online and got £35 off a three month membership- yes, I went long term because I *think* I'm more likely to stick to it longer if I've paid for it. … [Read more...]
Let’s talk pensions….
I’m going to be honest here, I’m not great with pensions.I have a great one through my current work and over the last few years I’ve been paying more into that than I used to but I also have two other pensions floating about somewhere from my last two employers. They’ll both be reasonably small (one will be teeny as I only worked for this company for a year) but still, I paid money into them so I need to get them tracked down and sorted. It’s only in the last few months that I’ve started to think like a grown up when it comes to pensions even though I like to think I’m quite money … [Read more...]
Why I’m proud that my teenager has two designer handbags….
I thought long and hard about whether to post this because I know some of you will be shaking your head right now and thinking how bad it is that my teenage daughter has two designer handbags. I bet lots of you will have your finger hovering over the cross on the right hand side of the page ready to move on to something that really is frugal rather than this 'waste of money' and that's OK.But I'd rather you stayed to listen to why I'm proud and why it really isn't a bad thing.((This post may contain affiliate links - I'm just putting it out there so you know. You pay the exactly the … [Read more...]
