I'm trying to be more aware of the costs of our meals lately so I can share my cheapest meals with you in a series of posts and the first thing I thought of was homemade pizza.I work this out to be around 50p a portion for a plan pizza and that's based on one batch of dough making two pizzas. We serve ours with sweet potato fries but you could just serve it with whatever you have in - salad, veggies, normal potatoes or even just on it's own depending how hungry your family can get.For the homemade pizza base (makes 2 small or one large pizza):500g strong white bread flour … [Read more...]
Cadburys Creme Egg Cupcakes….
I thought I'd have a go at making some Easter themed cupcakes this week so I headed over to Pinterest for some cupcakey inspiration. I was met with everything from handcrafted bunnies made from icing to perfectly crafted chicks piped onto cakes - all of which is way above by capability! I can however make an amazing chocolate cake so I decided to combine that with the one thing that I most think about when it comes to Easter - Cadbury's Creme Eggs! How to make Cadburys Creme Egg Cupcakes. The basic recipe for the chocolate cupcakes is just a normal chocolate sponge cake recipe so you … [Read more...]
What to pack in your carry on bag – according to a teenager….
Miss Frugal is ridiculously excited about our fast approaching trip to New York!Even though we don't go for another two weeks (12 sleeps if we're being exact), she's spent some time today packing her carry on bag for the plane journey. She's been itching to pack it for a few weeks to be honest so there was no stopping her today when she saw me bringing one of the suitcases from the garage this morning.I got her to take a photo of it all for you so you could see exactly what she considers to be her 'essentials' for a transatlantic flight. I had heard that Three were great for using your card abroad so I've had my phone unlocked and ordered a free sim from Three which I've topped up now and when I get to New York, I'll swap over the Sim and because Three … [Read more...]

March: Money saved and Money made….
I feel like I haven't been in total control of our finances as much as usual for the last nine months or so with me not being very well but March seemed like a great time to put that right as I've been feeling so much better lately and both our home and car insurance were up for renewal as well as my phone contract finally coming to an end.I took a day off work last week so I could fully focus on all things budget related, gather together our bank statements and any of our insurance renewal letters and sat myself down with a copy of my free budget planner and got to work, with the help of … [Read more...]
