One of the most popular posts I've ever written is my post about six things to do before you go to bed to make your next morning easier and honestly, I genuinely feel better the next morning when I take the time to do these six things.Someone once commented on a Facebook post about this post to say that she 'couldn't be bothered to faff about on a night' but I'm not a morning person and find it much easier if I can just get up and go without having to think about much at all. I also find that getting organised for the next day on a night helps me to relax at bedtime because I know … [Read more...]
My Favourite Ted Talks about Money and Consumerism….
Have you heard of Ted Talks?I'd heard of them but never actually watched or listened to one of the talks until recently when I was off work with very little to do through the day. I realised after getting a little bit too interested in the lives of some US vloggers that even if I had little energy to do anything but watch Youtube, I could at least watch something with a little more substance. That's when I decided to finally check out some Ted Talks which are basically short (18 minutes or less) and I discovered a whole library of talks about just about any subject you can imagine. I … [Read more...]
How to save BIG MONEY on your existing mortgage….
Your mortgage payment is probably the biggest expenditure on your monthly budget (unless you have a very fancy car or very expensive tastes ;-)) and if you're anything like me, you'll often look wistfully at the amount on your bank statement and wonder what life would be like if you were mortgage free.Or what about if you've had bad credit in the past and have one of those bad credit mortgages with the slightly higher interest rates. I bet you look at the amount you pay and wish you could reduce the amount owing so that you can apply for a standard mortgage once your payments have been … [Read more...]
3 Ingredient Peanut Butter and Oat Bites….
How do you choose which breakfast cereal to buy?I don't eat cereal but everyone else does and it's a total drama trying to choose a cereal that everyone likes - honestly, it's like World War 3 in the cereal aisle when we try to choose what type to buy!I think that's how Miss Frugal managed to sneak the big box of rolled oats by me a couple of weeks ago. I vaguely remember her asking if she could get some oats for porridge but I was too busy refereeing the cereal argument going on between Mr Frugal and Master Frugal who were debating (very loudly) the merits of Krave versus … [Read more...]
How I upcycled my odd little table….
This is a DIY project from quite a while ago but I didn't really share it much at the time as I did cut a few corners and I wasn't sure how it would hold up over time. It's still going strong and it's one of my favourite pieces of furniture in the house so I thought the time had come to share the story of my odd little table.First of all, let's have a look at the table....I bought it last year from our local charity shop when I popped in to drop some things off after a de-clutter. I know, I know, you're not supposed to de-clutter and replace with more things straight away but I … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {17 February 2017}….
1) Remember when I made frugal french dip sandwiches a couple of weeks ago? They were totally amazing and highly recommended but my first frugal thing is to do with the leftover meat than the sandwiches themselves. One joint of brisket made more than enough for our sandwiches with plenty of leftovers so I popped the meat we didn't eat into a freezer bag (the IKEA ones are brilliant - cheap, strong and reusable) and popped it in the freezer. Last weekend, we thought we'd get the brisket out and see what it was like heated up for our Sunday Dinner and it was so delicious. I love the … [Read more...]
