Last week I shared with you a gift guide that Miss Frugal put together with her ideas on what to buy a teenage girl for Christmas this year and this week I wanted to share one that she's helped Master Frugal put together on what to buy a tween boy for Christmas. As with Miss Frugal's guide, I haven't edited it or taken off the things that I'm not a fan of because then it wouldn't be his ideas but I can tell you that if I had edited it a bit then you wouldn't be seeing at least one of the suggestions can you guess which one? ;-)I suspect the first thing on the list has been … [Read more...]
Halloween Chocolate Bark Recipe….
Aaaagh - I've had a blog related trauma and the original of this post has been eaten so I'm having to re-write it and as always is the case, I can't get it to sound as good as the first time around. ;-)Miss Frugal and I made some Halloween chocolate bark the other day which turned out brilliantly - it tasted delicious and even more importantly (when you're 14 years old) it looked brilliant so we thought we'd share it with you today so you could have a go at making your own. Halloween chocolate bark 1 large bar of cooking milk chocolate 1 smaller bar white cooking chocolate Some spooky … [Read more...]
Budget DIY Lush Oatifix Facemask….
I might have mentioned in the past that Miss Frugal has a slight obsession with Lush which has resulted in rather a lot of her pocketmoney being spent in our local store in the past. The problem for her is that she's now trying to save up for our trip to New York next year so she's decided no more Lush until we get back - which should in fact be quite easy considering that she has at least a year's supply of bath bombs in her room somewhere!Because she isn't buying anything from Lush right now, she's been scouring Pinterest for her favourite products to see if she can make her own … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {28th October 2016}….
I'm so sorry if you've already seen this post or if you left a comment last week but the whole post got eaten by my blog over the weekend so I've had to redo it. Hope that's OK, Cass x x 1) This one is going to make us sound a bit greedy but we like our food here so don’t judge. Along with my usual batch cooked meals I often have ready made pies in the freezer for a quick and easy meal when I don’t have time (or energy) to cook. I used to serve two pies each (not for the kids obviously) because that’s what my Dad used to serve when we had pies when I was growing up and I just did it … [Read more...]
Super Easy Homemade Bath Bombs….
Miss Frugal has been asking me for ages now if she can have a go at making her own bath bombs and I always put her off because there are so many different methods of making them out there that call for ingredients I wouldn't normally have in the house. It finally got to the point where I couldn't put her off any longer so last weekend, I gathered the ingredients we needed and sat and watched her make her version of homemade bath bombs and actually, they came out OK. I don't think we're going to be up there with Lush but I do think that she might actually be able to pull of her plan to … [Read more...]
Mini Chicken Souvlaki Kebabs….
We first had Chicken souvlaki kebabs when we were on holiday in Cyprus earlier on this year and ever since then I've been meaning to have a go at making them. They've been on my weekly meal plan a few times since we came home but for one reason or another I've just never got around to attempting them.Yesterday though I was determined that we were going to have my version of chicken souvlaki kebabs for tea - I had the chicken, the Tzatziki, the pitta breads and everything else in that I needed to make them and I was good to go. That is, until I went to get the BBQ skewers out of the … [Read more...]
