1) I've started using my student card more often over the last week or so and this week I finally got around to downloading the app on my phone so I could see exactly where I could be using it to save money. You'd be surprised how many place there are where you can get discount so I'm trying to make the most of the card by using it wherever I can.My Card cost £12 for a year and I got it through a course I'm doing at work but you don't have to be an actual student to get one as you qualify with lots of online courses. I actually helped my friend set herself one up this week and it cost £5 … [Read more...]
Chocolate Banoffee Quesadillas….
A few years ago, for some unknown reason, Mr Frugal bought me a quesadilla maker for Christmas. I can only assume it's because he wasn't happy with the standard of my quesadillas although he swears that he bought it because he thought I'd appreciate the quirkiness of the little Mexican hat covered gadget. It makes life easier when I make quesadillas (about once a month) but aside from that it just gathers dust in the back of the cupboard. So when I was decluttering the kitchen and trying to get rid of any gadgets that are just taking up space (slushie maker anyone?) the poor little … [Read more...]
Say Yes to your children more than you say No….
Do you often find yourself saying NO to your children when they ask you something?I'm not talking about saying no to things that it's reasonable to say no to - going out after dark, eating too much of the wrong stuff and staying up too late on the Xbox are some of the things that come to mind when I mean things that it's reasonable to say no to.My question should really be phrased a bit differently I guess because the point I'm trying to make is that sometimes when our children ask us a question, we say no without a very good reason. We might say no to a trip to the beach of to … [Read more...]

Christmas Family Traditions Alternative Advent Calendar….
Over the years we've had all sorts of different advent calendars from the usual chocolate kind to the more exciting Lego or beauty calendars but this year I wanted to try a bit of an alternative advent calendar.I wanted to make an advent calendar that was all about experiences rather than things, just like we tried to do with Christmas last year where we gave the kids a mix of actual presents and presents that involved an experience of some kind. The experiences we gave them, especially Master Frugal's, were so much fun and they appreciated them more than most of the presents they … [Read more...]
