I was feeling rather pleased with myself when I shared last week's meal plan because I'd worked really hard in the few weeks before to make sure we had a week's worth of meals in the freezer so that in the days after my operation, we didn't have to worry about what we'd be eating (or rather I didn't have to worry about the kids being subjected to Mr Frugal's cooking).I'm not sure what I was expecting recovery wise but I kind of had last Friday in my head as the day that I'd be up and about and well enough to be pottering about so I made sure that I had enough meals ready to go to last us … [Read more...]
What I learned during my brief stay in hospital this week….
Right, first things first.I'm all good so there's no need to worry- I've had some gorgeous messages from some of you this week which are much appreciated but there's honestly nothing to worry about. I've had a small (but painful) issue down below that has pretty much had me out of action since the end of June and this week I had an operation to sort it out.I'm not going to lie, it hurts right now but at least I can see he light at the end of the tunnel because I haven't been me for a long time now and I was really starting to miss being me.Anyway, I learned a few things during my … [Read more...]
Remember when a headline really was a headline?
Over the last few months, I've found myself with a bit more time than usual on my hands and inevitably, some of that time has been spent on social media. ;-)Facebook in particular has been a great source of entertainment to me while I've been out of action. I love how my timeline gets filled with random news stories that really aren't news at all. My favourite example of this over the last few weeks has been the celebrity split of the year as Brad and Angelina parted ways with everything from people saying 'I told you it wouldn't last' to 'OMG how could that happen' with a healthy dose … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {7th October 2016}….
1) It's October and we haven't had the heating on yet - that's mostly been because the weather seems to have been a bit milder than usual but there have been a few days where I've considered it. I hate having the heating on because our house is quite a warm house anyway and it feels quite stuffy when the heating is on so I try to put it off as long as I can. I've added a nice fluffy blanket to the bottom of everyone's bed but I can't see that they've been used yet.2) Did you see my meal plan earlier this week? It was a total triumph for my batch cooking as I've had a super easy week for … [Read more...]
Do you wait for Black Friday to do your Christmas Shopping?
Christmas shopping was so much simpler when the kids were younger!Their Christmas wishlists were so predictable that I could do most of my shopping for them even before I asked them to tell me what they wanted for Christmas. Those were the good old days - the days of dolls and dressing up and of Lego and magic tricks and the days where it was probably more about quantity than quality if I'm honest. Now, at the ages of 14 and almost 12, Christmas is a whole different ball game.Last year, I tried to make it more about experiences than gifts because I'd rather give them memories than … [Read more...]
Homemade coconut oil bath melts….
Miss Frugal love a good pamper, as do most teenage girls I suspect. At least once a week, she'll disappear into the bathroom with various products and come back out smelling like a walking version of a Lush shop. She has bath bombs, bubble wands, bath melts, hair shampoo she buys herself that costs double what mine does and that's just products. On top of that there is every type of buffer, sponge and cloth known to man in there too!Last weekend I dropped her off at the train station and made her promise not to buy any more bath related smellies - in exchange for this I promised her … [Read more...]
